30 Bananas a Day!

August 2010 Blog Posts (136)

Poke me with a fork I think I'm done like dinner...

So I was feeling not too bad the past couple of days but today that changed… I had a hell of a time getting out of bed today to go to work. All morning at work I was not feeling well at all. My chest was tight, it was hard for me to breathe, I felt very weak, it was hard for me to stand up, I had shooting pains in my wrist and liver and a horrid headache… not a pretty sight or feeling. …

Monday - More exercise & Sunshine

I weighed in today - 227lbs. Yikes! That isn't even my high. My high was 240. Yeah, I never thought I'd get over 200 lbs, but having three kids in a few years time does not do well with a woman's body. Sure, some are fine, but obviously it hasn't helped mine.

I sometimes find myself wishing I would have known sooner about proper nutrition. I wish my favorite meal as a child (and I still enjoy them) wasn't spaghetti-Os. I have to wonder how people got so far away from living naturally,… Continue

Day 142 - More Calories = Improved Fitness = Fit, Healthy Body!

So recently I've realized that I need to up my calories, again.

When I decided to go overt free 42 days ago I instantly realized that I needed to raise my calorie consumption. I had previously been eating around 2400 calories with around half an avocado per day. When I cut the fat out I was craving "something". I figured out that I was craving more fruity carbs! After realizing this I raised my calories to 2900-3200 per day, based on activity level. I started feeling even…

France a Fruitarian Fig Fruitopia

I have just spent the last 3 days riding along the Canal du Midi from Agen to Carcassonne in Southern France. This journey is absolutely blissful. The canal has a cycle path along the entire length and is lined with gorgeous old

trees. No cars, no electricity, the occasional small town…

24 Hour Ride

I need to figure out the logistics of the whole thing, but I think I might try to do a 24 hour ride one weekend in September. It sounds like fun, but I'm a little concerned about ass health. Should probably finally invest in some good bike shorts. Thin triathlon shorts wont cut it this time.

Any tips or pointers for preparations are greatly appreciated! :)

Cellulite! Help how do you get rid of it?

Im not eating any fat and i have been doing 811 for now almost 2 weeks. I feel like its so hard to get rid of the cellulite on the back of my thighs. Anyone have any suggestion?

Pre 811

Just a few short days ago, I had no idea what 811 was. I had heard of Vegans, Fruitarians, Vegetarians, etc. but thought it was all about animal cruelty and stuff. Yes, I was very ignorant. Over the last few years I have been exploring health options, but never found anything I felt truly passionate about. Isn't it funny how one day things will just click? One thing leads to another and all the sudden you believe you have found the answer you were looking for all along? That is what I believe… Continue

still low fat plant based but not enough fruit

So i am still eating low fat plant based, but I am deffinitly not eating enough fruit. I still eat some though, for example I ate a watermelon yester day, today I will have 3 cantalop. Tomorow my case of bananas should be ripe enough to eat.

Ive noticed that I am eating a little less fruit because I am becoming complacent in eating low fat vegan. However, I am not happy with this as it is jsut obvious to me that without fruit, I just wont feel as good as I'd…

I'll be back

Just a short line here: I kept quiet for a few months because my UC still wouldn't clear up after 2 years trying to go raw. In July suddenly I couldn't eat fruit at all anymore without getting bouts of mucous from the bowel, (maybe this info is not so interesting for healthy peeps) especially when on banana island again. And no that was not detoxing. Fasting did help only for some time.…

It's Going to be Freelee & Durianrider's Fault....

If I gain even more weight by eating 3,000 calories a day, it's going to be Freelee & Durianrider's fault!!! I've been resisting their advice for lots of reasons, firstly, because I see that most of their followers are young and athletic and advice to them isn't necessarily good advice for me.

I've asked Freelee in an e-mail whether she has experience working with people like me (65yo, morbidly obese, sugar-sensitive, limited mobility) but have not had a reply. Durianrider has… Continue

Ethics of Non-human Milk — R. de Villiers Dreyer.

I have been seeing quite a bit of information on raw (non-human) milk, claiming it is in some way a healthy food for adult humans. On a rational level this does not make sense to me; if non-human milk was such a natural and healthy food for humans, why would we ever wean, and why would many of us stop being able to digest lactose after four years of age ?

But aside from the health aspect of drinking another animal's milk,…

Mom Gone Raw- Is upset

Stupid dentist. I look a mess! The parts for my teeth did not come in...but they did the work anyway..moved gum tissue..put in temporary abutments..and then cemented these thick halloween looking teeth things in my mouth... I look a mess!

I'm so angry...I cant talk without sounding like daffy duck and I look like a halloween creature. I could have waited until the parts came in!

I have a workshop tomorrow...I am suppose to record with a major player in the movie…

Ahh...Goodbye Sunshine - Wish I Were in the Tropics!

So,

As I started to dread a couple of weeks ago, the rain has started here in the Comox Valley. We may get a few more sunny weeks before next spring, but very few. It rains here in the Valley for almost a solid 5 months out of the whole year! Ahhhh!

We traveled out here from Ontario in November, and were greeted with rain that did not cease until mid June. I would almost be willing to put up with the -30C Ont. winters this year just to see some SUN!

Ahh. Yes I know the…

My Wound healing on low fat raw vegan (warning graphic)...

Today I thought I would share about my fabulous wound-healing on a low fat raw vegan lifestyle...

Back at the start of 2008 I got my very first road bike, boy was I EXCITED! I hadn’t been on a bike for about 10years so I was keen to get my legs back. The first day was great, I was gliding along with the

traffic, feeling pretty confident and the day went off without a hitch.

The next day I wasn’t so lucky!…

Thursday, August 26, 2010........Day 222

Day 222 of the Fruit feast. i sprained my neck muscle again last week while doing chins. i believe its because i have increased the intensity of the workout by increasing the number of reps of push ups and keeping

the rest period between them the same (2 minutes). i felt something

twinge in my neck and was in pain for the next 2 days. Since this has

happened twice this month i decided to scale back the workout this week.

i increased my rest period to 3 minutes between…
