Day 18 & 19 - Over 50 Fully Raw Vegan 40 Day Challenge

Day 18

Voluntarily out of bed early today to embark on preparation for tomorrow where I intend to observe a day of complete rest and reverence for my life and all of life. Last week I did the same and really enjoyed it. I am thinking taking a day to myself to lay in the sun naked, read, rest, oil my body and drink only Orange juice till the sun falls behind the mountains, really is a great way to end the week and kick start a new one.

Proof that you can eat primarily carbs?

Hey everyone! My mom read half of The Starch Solution but believes it is biased and not telling the whole truth because she's from Asia and the book said that Asians eats primarily rice. She thinks that he's being biased and doesn't tell the whole truth because in places like Japan they eat a lot of fish and where she is from they eat some meat. She thinks that carbs are ok "in moderation" and that I shouldn't be loading up on carbs because it isn't a balanced diet, I need more…

Day 2

Breakfast: half a watermelon

Lunch: remainder of baby-nanas, more cherries (they were on sale!  yum.), romaine lettuce

Ok, I know I'm not supposed to have veggies until the evening, but that's what I had that wasn't crap food, so that's what I ate.  Plain, no dressing.  It was sweet and crunchy and lovely.

Some more black currant juice.

Dinner: organic, whole wheat pasta with low sodium, low fat dressing.

Cheated here, I guess, but I…

Changes. My China Study, Earthlings Experience..

Where to start, I guess at the beginning.

I like many of you was taught that meat, fish and dairy were things that are good for you, it was only when I started to see videos of animal cruelty ie medical experiments and the testing of cosmetics along with videos of starving children in Africa did I come to understand the suffering that was going on in the world. That was about 18 years ago when I was 13, I stopped using products tested on animals wherever possible because for everyone…

Day 16 - Over 50 Staying fully Raw for 40 days

Today I got out of bed at 6.00am even though it was cold and did the same as yesterday even though I wasn’t going out anywhere. To me it seems that deciding and preparing what I will eat for the day, hits a sweet spot in my head. I mean now that I finally have some knowledge about calories and fat intake, if I start putting my meals together first up for the day, instead of just opening the fridge when I starving and hoping that something jumps out at me, I believe it will pretty much solve…

First day 100% Raw!

So today is my first day on the lifestyle. I've been vegetarian on and off in the past, but stressful times in the past few months caused me to go back to full blown SAD. Well not anymore! I'm tired of feeling like crap every day and knowing it's from the food that I eat. I see all the health issues my family members have had and I won't let myself go down that road. So far I'm going to try to keep it fully raw but if I feel like I can't keep it up right now I'll switch to raw til… Continue

Day 483

Today is Day 483. Still coping with tooth issues. Weight gain is still an issue as well as bloat. I am going in tomorrow to see my integrative doctor. I have not seen a single doctor in over a year and a half. I saw her right before I started 801010. With all my struggles with weight, bloat, and a few others, I felt I needed to see what my blood tests reflect. They will be checking several things. They took 6 vials of blood this round. Usually it is 12+, so we shall see. I know B12, D, thyroid,… Continue

Update for Tuesday, July 28th, 2014

1. Fruit salad:

I'm not a big fan of mixing fruits for meals (mono meals serve my tummy better), but a coworker brought in an amazing fruit salad, which I stole the recipe from.  She puts 4 ziploc bags in the fridge overnight:

1) Chopped watermelon

2) Chopped pineapple

3) Sliced strawberries

4) Blueberries

Drain the watermelon, then mix everything together (including the pineapple juice) in a large bowl the…

First Fully Raw Day

I know it's recommended to do one of these every week but up until now I've just been abiding to the standard rt4 and the cooked carbs at night dealio. I'm finding that my body is reacting better to raw food then it does to most cooked foods (unless it's steamed veggies/potatoes), and the last couple nights after my cooked dinners I've felt 'off'. Not necessarily bad, but just a noticeable something that isn't quite right.  I crave cooked foods at night but after I've had them I have been…

Garden harvest as of july 2014

I have been harvesting pounds of tomatoes for the last two weeks. The tomatoes started ripening around the middle of July.

The Tomatoes I am currently harvesting were transplanted at the beginning of May, while the other half of the Tomato garden was planted at the beginning of June.

The later Tomatoes will start putting off at the beginning of August. It seems Tomatoes take five months of growth before they start putting off fruit.

Here are some of the photos of the…

First blog - progress not perfection, right?

It has been a challenge to commit to a HCLF/Rt4 lifestyle...i.e. I haven't done it yet.  However, learning about it and watching videos on YouTube has inspired me to want to go vegan and to eat healthier in general.

The last two days I've kept to the Rt4 plan, although I didn't write down all I ate on cronometer. At the moment it's hard enough for me to get and eat the right food, nevermind track how much I'm eating.  Hopefully I will change.

Day 1…

Day 15 - Over 50 40 day 100% Raw Vegan Challenge

Had to go out yesterday and I can honestly say I nearly gave into wanting hot chips. I don’t know what happened but with huge craving come over me as I was parked near a KFC. Of course I could smell the chicken and the so-called secret herbs and spices wafting in the air but I didn’t it, only hot chips for some reason with the secret herbs and spices.

But I didn’t give into temptation. Why - because I am more than a third of the way into my challenge, and also because I…

A day, is a day ...

Got through the day ...

... *sigh* ... yeah.

My food plans didn't work, unexpected overtime at work ... then after work, ate more than I should have of something I 'thought' was good - cronometer is educating me well.  And, I guess I have to look at that ... this is a learning process.

Trying to stay positive.  Tomorrow is another day.

Unlike my usual, staying up late ... am weary and will go to bed in good time.

Essay on Veganism

So I'm doing an extended essay on veganism this year for my IB Diploma in high school. To be more specific, the essay is about the various reasons or arguments for living a vegan lifestyle and eating a vegan diet (reasons including ethical/morality, the environment, culture/tradition, health, etc.) I've only done a draft last year and it isn't even a finished one because I was writing it only a day or two before the due date because I was swamped with work from other classes. Anyway I'm just…

'Stay'cations are good :)

So, here I am ... the night before I'm back to work.  I've just finished 2 weeks off of a 'stay'cation.  It felt kind of odd doing it, but also not ... I knew I needed it.

Ye know that list of 'life's most traumatic changes' ... where they tell you, if you experience one of these, to go easy on yourself blah blah blah.  Well, 6 years ago I went through 4 of them ... and life hasn't stopped till 2 weeks ago.  I knew something had to give ... the pleaser in me had to put…
