One day Before 30 DAY RAW challenge Pics

So, before and afters are AMAZING inspirations, but I'd like to do transitional photos as well, to further inspire (hopefully). One week updates to come :)

My food background:

Vegan and vegetarian as a teen, standard diet for 10+ years. I don't normally eat a lot of meat, but do fall prey to candy and processed food for convenience. I've tried fad diets, pills, over-exercising, even medical treatments. I am  way excited to get back to vegan because I know I need the healthy…

My Rawtil4 Journey Thus Far (Almost 5 months) +Progress Photos

This is harder than I thought it would be.. Courage, Dusty! I think I've reached a stage you can see some difference now.

I've been Rawtil4 since 5th January 2014. Today is 29th April 2014.

I struggled from digestive issues my entire life. I always ate (what I thought) was pretty healthy, but I ate a standard meat/dairy/fruit/veg/nuts diet (bog-standard "healthy/balanced"/"had no real idea" diet). However, I did a lot of calorie restriction followed by binging. This wasn't…

9 year Vegan Anniversary

I am certain that I was vegetarian for several days to a week before Veganism. I remember having shrimp for the first time and feeling disgusted with my decision to eat animal flesh after understanding the cruelty. That day, the first Sunday in April, I officially stopped eating animal flesh. After several days of vegetarianism, I realized I was contradicting my beliefs by continuing to have a milk and eggs in my diet with Ranch dressings, ice creams, and such. So towards the middle of April…

Shero

So I am so excited! I received a proclamation from the county legislator where I work for being a passionate and caring teacher! One of my students wrote an essay about me and the essay was submitted by her Social Studies teacher into a county wide contest. My student won the contest and the county recognized both of us at an official meeting. I have to say, I know I am a good person and have been most of my life, but I owe a lot of the accolades to this lifestyle. I definitely feel I have…

feeling like ****

i feel like total ****, even though i am carbed up, I've been doing this 9 months and still no permanent weight loss. i go home to see my friends in 3 days and i don't want them to see me like this, its even harder when my mom just watches me eat and is like do you really need to eat all of that. i eat between 2500-3000 cals this is where i feel my best so I'm obviously not going to try restricting especially coming from an ed background but i want the weight to come off more than anything.…

Day 3 of switching over to this lifestyle

I woke up feeling amazing today! I'm usually tiered and angry when I wake up but to felt different .... Like I actually felt different I wasn't angry and I didn't drag my feet I just got up and went. Heck even the day started what I would have preserved as "bad" I had someone call out on me on a two person shift store and I handled it better than I use to. Idk what I was doing before but now I feel as though I have finally woke up and I feel amazing for it!

Food Noise Ramblings

I just want to bring up the topic of "food noise". Food noise is the dialogue that we have with ourselves inside of our minds when we think about food or eating. Often people have a bad relationship with food, they feel that it is necessary to restrict restrict restrict. Then when they eventually get low on glucose they break down and eat an entire pizza.

Now am I saying that those people are bad because of the way they think about food? No. Negative food noise is usually conditioned…

Monday, April 29, Day 1

Yesterday the sun came out after a long time of gray and hail and snow and rain. As soon as I got home from work, I sat in the grass in the sunshine and played with the bunnies and Emma and the dogs. A cute, young couple asked through the fence if they could come play too so we let them. Then, after we dropped Emma off at play practice, Henry and I went to Sunnyside park and walked the steep, grassy hills for 30-40 minutes in the sunshine holding hands. Heaven. Outside. Sunshine. Green…

First day.

It was more difficult than I thought it would be. The most difficult part was eating the amount of calories I needed, not choosing between the Pizza Rolls in the freezer or my bananas and zucchini.

Upon rise I drank some orange and lemon infused water.

This morning I had a berry smoothie and 4 bananas calories ended up being around 800. (late morning) Well I'll be honest I didnt wake up till noon so this was my lunch.

For dinner I had 2 bananas, 3 zuchini, and 2…

Feeling Isolated...

It's been awhile since discovering the beauty of 80/10/10. My body is finally healing. It's been a wacky roller coaster ride the past 6 months, but I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I know I'll get to where I want to ultimately be in terms of health, fitness, and well being.

But there's a newer obstacle that I'm really struggling to overcome, and that is extreme negativity from others. This comes in a few different forms, but all are equally as unsettling to me.…

How much fruit & vegetabes should I eat? (Pictures of meals this week)

I have never heard a doctor say "you need to eat more meat", only those who say you need to eat more fruits and vegetables.

Fruits and vegetables contain all the necessary calories, carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins and minerals we need to sustain. It is ironic when I hear men say he needs to obtain protein from an animal, when that very animal obtains all of its protein from grass. It is also comical when people insist we evolved by eating and hunting animals and…

PMA All The Way

PMA - for all who don't know it stands for positive mental attitude! :) I am going to admit that I grew up in a negative environment. I was raised and taught by my parents examples to have a negative defeatist attitude. I wasn't ever shown how to push forward or be persistent, and I'm still learning to do that today.

Despite my upbringing I am trying to practice having a PMA at all times. To be grateful for what I have and to not take anything for granted. I was watching Harley talk… Continue

blah

Had way too much sodium this weekend and woke up today feeling puffy and disgusting.  I've been at this for two months now and I weigh more than I have in six years or more, I'm having such a hard time not having an anxiety attack over it at times.  My fat clothes are tight at this point. I'm uncomfortable, my confidence level is very low, I don't even recognize myself.  I'm having such a tough time keeping my faith in this lifestyle, feeling very unsure if I'm doing it correctly or if I'm…

Super Energy Breakfast Bars Recipe (rawtil4, cooked vegan, mostly raw)

One of my go-to food staples.   These Super Energy Breakfast Bars really are all good; high in nutrients, fiber and no saturated fat.  If you have kids-make 'em. These hearty oat bars store and travel really well too, perfect for on the go or on the road.  While the ingredients list looks long, the prep is very easy and the recipe makes enough for at least a week, they're quite dense.  I like to whip up a batch on the weekend and enjoy them all week long!   If you bake more than 5…

The terror keeping me from LFRV

First, I've been vegan for just about five years. So that is not an issue.

I've realized the big factor holding me back from going lfrv though. From a very young age I was taught that emotions were not acceptable. At least to show them. I've had a lot of bad times in my life, like anybody.

I start out fine, but there are days that I wake up and just don't want to do it. The thing is, I'm terrified of that emotional step. When you're longer stuffing down those…
