Trying out "Banana Mylk"

I waste far too much time watching YouTube videos but the trade off is that occasionally I learn something new and exciting.  Last week I watched a video about banana mylk ... simply banana and water blended together ... and figured I needed to try it out.  As I'm still transitioning I'm sticking with cereal at breakfast and moving away from UHT treated soya and almond milks.  In terms of cost per serving one banana makes just under a pint of banana mylk and could easily be stretched to make…

Where do you get your protein?

As we all know, this has got to be, single handedly, the most annoying question ever. My Mom never fails to ask that question. She shared with me her and my Fathers' experience when they were both vegans back in the 60's, I assume and they broke out in a really bad staph infection and went to a health guru of sorts who told them they needed animal products in their life and that plants weren't a complete protein. They introduced live culture yogurt to their diet and the staph went away. I… Continue

4 Unbelieveable Pieces of "Food Propaganda": lies told by America's most pretentious "healthy" faves

Most of us here already know that the majority of foods that come in a package are evil, but it's always entertaining to get a quick reality check, since many of these packaged "diet" foods that claim to be healthy and necessary for weight loss are nothing more than chemical-laden hormone-disturbing  garbage. Take a look at these 4 just for starters.

Got any other good examples? Submit them to my…

Sorry I'm Not Sorry

Went to the store to pick up over ripe bananas for boyfriend to make banana ice cream. Noticed honey mangoes were on sale for 2 for $1. Came home with 40 of them. Not even sorry. Store may need to restock the fruit, definitely cleared them out of all but like 5.

weight gain, banana island, becoming more balanced

Hey everyone,

As of lately I've been a high carb low fat vegan for almost a year now in July. i started out going high carb low fat raw for a few months before i started having cooked food. As of recently I don't think my body can handle the amount of cooked food I want it too as I think I've began doing cooked food while my body still needs more time to heal on raw. I began this lifestyle starting around 110 pounds and have gone up to around 130/140 which upsets me so much coming…

My first week with a new lifestyle!

So, exactly one week have gone by after i decided to do this switch. It's been a very good week! Not only am I feeling great, my skin has startd to clear up - We also found out we are pregnant, wich we are really happy about!!! Even though it's early. Alongside all this, I got sick. I got the flu :(

I don't know if it is my body reacting, because I cut out dairy and meat at the same time, and all this mukas (don't know how to write that) wants to get out of my body...?

Concerned Family and Friends who are alien to this lifestyle/movement.

Hi Guys! Does anyone know an appropriate convincing way to handle concerned friends or family? meaning, how to handle friends/family that are COMPLETELY alien to this lifestyle & living a SAD.. Or living the "healthy" "spinach omelet in the morning, salad with fish for lunch salad/pasta yadiya for dinner" type of people..

I have family who were concerned when I simply went vegan (8 months ago),

I have been studying abroad for a month now, and gone fully raw since ive moved…

homeless vegan

Where theres a will there's a way! This life is only as rough as u make it. I have my road bike, running shoes, and 6$ a day and that's enough for now! U can make this life work if u really want to. I don't always want to keep pedaling or running when it hurts. But it hurts me more to quit and face the mirror!

Water - I love it!

Been drinking around 4 litres of water a day. Found an interesting study on water induced thermogenesis - http://j.mp/1la3aeA

There's a lot of interesting detail, but the main discovery is that your body burns approx 50 calories per 1 litre of cool water you drink by increasing your metabolism for around an hour by approx 30%.

I don't think that means you lose 500 calories if you drink 10 litres a day, so I wouldn't do anything crazy like that. Part… Continue

Thank you for letting me join 30bananasaday

Thanks for having me Durianrider and Freelee! I hope to be more than a freeloader. As I struggle to move to a fruitilicious and vegetocious lifestyle as a type 2 diabetic, hopefully I can contribute something to someone through your website.

Your history with those celebrity vegans - in that PDF you released was interesting. I think there were signs - there was a lot of "me,me,me" talk in those posts, emails etc. Besides the bullshit "love you DR and Freelee" type of niceties I… Continue

Staying Vegan while going through a Breakup

So my partner & I recently decided to end our six year relationship & understandably I am having a few difficulties with the process. Although we both feel it is time to move on & we are really good friends, a lot of emotions are coming to the surface that I am not sure how to process. I was a strict vegan for about a year & back in September I jumped off the wagon because I thought it would help restore some balance to my failing relationship. My partner tried to be as…

What fruit has done for my belly fat!

Ok so I'm completely new to this lifestyle and I'm not 811 yet, more like 60/20/20 with some sweet potatoes in the evening.  However I've just upped my fruit intake slowly over the past two weeks and started eating more calories and though I haven't lost weight I swear my stomach is looking more even to me.  I've always had the side muscles showing with some frontal belly flab and I feel like my body is evening out, the muscles on the side aren't as crazy but the front is less fat.  So yay! …

Scientific research backing up the beaner runners

So I know why I was so lean as a kid: Beans and tortillas high carb fuel! Most Mexicans in Mexico are pretty lean if they are poor although they get plenty of calories as this article shows. Kids get almost 3000 calories a day!

The Tarahurama are some of the world's best long distance runners and they eat 80% of their diet from Carbs!  Beans and Corn are their main fuel.  Low fat and protein.  Very little meat if any.  Simple diet.  :)…

Blood Test Results-NOT GOOD!!!

Yikes, I got my blood drawn today and am a bit unhappy with the results.  I was all raw for three weeks and have been high carb, low fat raw until 4 for the past five weeks.  So all in all I have been doing this for about two months.

Typically, on a vegetarian, mostly vegan, high raw diet over the past several years I have had ideal lipids, triglycerides, and inflammatory markers.  I am relatively thin.

I had my blood drawn and test results back today.  My…
