I'm gonna make this a rant post, a 'talking to myself' kind of post cause I'm really upset right now. I've been 100% raw for 2 months now, and about 75% raw a few months before that. Point is I feel fantastic. Before starting this journey I had high triglycerides (at 25, turned 26 this week) because I've been on the pill for 5 years. Two months after going raw all my blood tests came back normal, I'm feeling great, I've been surrounded by people with the flu and I didn't…Continue
So hubby likes to go out to eat once a week and I'm tired of paying $8-$10 for a salad of iceburg lettuce and not much else. Strike 2 is he doesn't want me bringing my own bag of fruit/veggies for the chef to prepare.
This has been working for me: I prepare my salad dressing before hand and bring it in a few small rubbermaid containers. I also pack a ziploc bag of raisins, dates and maybe some chopped apple.
Makes the salad pleasant. No cheat - no guilt. Good…Continue
So I haven't checked in for a while and I want to continue to log my process on this journey.
I have been raw now for 5 weeks and the only things I've had that might not be 100% raw is some peanut butter (I was craving it - but it was still an organic brand) and some salad dressing when I was at a restaurant (oil based though).
I have gone from 170lbs to 159lbs in 5 weeks so I have lost 11lbs so far and I'm feeling great.
The dark circles under my eyes…Continue
Fruit people. We have an 8 month old girl and I am thrilled to feed her bananas, pear, date, papaya, kiwi. she also gets a variety of steamed vegetables often sweet potato, beet, carrot. My partner is not so interested in 80/10/10 and she thinks I may be doing something harmful sugar-wise by administering fruit frequently. What does one say to that? I'm thinking the sugar issue around refined sugar is completely different yes or ?
The last two weeks have been dramatic. My boyfriend and I broke up and it took two weeks for him to find a new place and move. So, I'm on my own again. There are a lot of positives that come with that. I have been eating steamed veggies pretty much every day. I've gone out drinking a few times, which has actually helped me get over the pain faster. But it's self destructive. I come home ravenous. My ex left some cans of beans in the house and those are gone now. And I had a few…Continue
For those that don't know I was raw vegan, cooked vegan of vegetarian most of my adult lie (now in my 40's) but the last yr because of a series of events, 2 celiacs diagnosed in my immediate family (son and hubby) we all went paleo. That was hard. I really started getting into it but...well...I'll skip the story but, I love my veggie roots.
This is day 10 of 8-1-1, and increasing raw that started around 75% and am now about 95%. Workouts have been better. More endurance and…Continue
It snowed again and it is freezing.
I was not expecting that and I just started eating a lot of nuts and seeds..
My ratio these days was over 2500 kcals: around 60-70% carbs, 20-30% fat,…Continue
One of the HCRV cultural adages I noticed when I began to read about this lifestyle is the promise of “optimal health”. The more I read, the more I was intrigued. How could the HCRV pioneers promise such heights of health when we are all different—when some illnesses are caused by dangers in our environment? Even assertions that germs were not as entirely harmful to us as we thought provided our bodies are fuelled and functioning as nature intended left me with doubts. Why was I healthy…Continue

Hello. I am still working on this plan and incorporating more fruits and veggies to my routine. I think I should have started slow at first, because I feel like I'm going backwards. But I am enjoying the new things I am learning about food and how to prepare it.
I also bought a spiralizer. I love it! I made zucchini pasta with an avocado basil sauce and it was AMAZING. Here is the link for the recipe. …Continue

So I have been "secretly vegan" since about January of this year. What I mean by this is that when I first told my parents about my lifestyle change, my mom laughed then flipped out on me saying how unhealthy it is and blah blah blah. So since I still live at home and she cooks occasionally ( her meals always contain some sort of animal products), expecting me to eat it. I will put it on my plate and then just feed it to my dog when she isn't looking or throw it in my…Continue

A friend just posted on Facebook a link to an article about the dangers of healthy eating and how the whole "healthy eating" discussion is just too confusing. That you should just eat what you enjoy and forget eating healthy.
The thing is she's about 200lbs overweight, has chronic back pain, weird blood pressure, is constantly sick with colds, can't sleep well, etc. All she seems to eat is meat and cheese. Even though she knows how much I've healed through a vegan diet.

Yesterday I wanted to watch a Freelee youtube video and the ad that played before the vid was one for a new meaty McDonalds burger. Yuck!
Today I watched another Freelee youtube vid on Freelee's blog page.... I took a screen shot of the popup ad that came up when it had finished playing! Take a look....…Continue
I have been waiting for my grapes to ripen properly for a while now. The birds have been too so it would seem. I went to look at the vines today and 90% of my big plump juicy grapes have been eaten already by our hungry feathered friends so I had to pick all the remaining grapes to ensure I'd get SOME! Some of the bunches aren't fully ripe and some only have a couple of good grapes left.…Continue
