as of this week: managing myself, watching trashy t.v., joking around, making bookmarks and drawing patterns. I always love to walk my dog on the trail and pay attention to all the different colors... but as of late, the colors are less vibrant.

I like stores that are completely closed on Sundays and/or don't stay open 24-7.

Jig-saw puzzles are boring, unless you watch an old movie like Autumn Leaves while doing it! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048967/
Joan Crawford is pretty neat.

I <3 cute things and I'm not ashamed of it, but I'm really more of a tom boy and would love to be outside playing a sport. :)

Quick Post- Healthy Day

Posted on November 30, 2009 at 11:30am 3 Comments

Quick post just to say

Today was nice and I feel strong.

-I walked
-I ate only fruit, greens and some baked yams
-I was peaceful and relaxed
-cleaned my room/bathroom
-started drawing a portrait
-listened to The Power Of Now

Hopefully tomorrow I will even go without the yams, and do 100% raw!

Hi, I wondered whether you manage to ogre out your zinc/copper issues am whether you managed to remain 811? I have copper toxicity and low zinc due to a genetic disorder - I wondered whether you might have this too. Look at Pyroluria if you haven't already. It explains a lot. I find if I do 811 I have such absolutely horrendous anxiety, palpitations, panic attacks etc that I feel I want to die. It's so upsetting when I can't eat healthily but I've just started my supplementation program so hopefully I'll be better soon :)

Yeah, I have been on and off it as well. Whatever's clever for the time being! I have some friends that go to University of Iowa in Iowa City, so I will be visiting them! Hope the new year is treating well, and you continue to heal :)

The body really oughta come with an instruction manual, eh? ;)

I hope the celery shticks work out for ya man! In any case you're ruling things out systematically which ain't a bad thing at all. :)

Hi Sabrina! If your kidneys are working properly and you're not taking a potassium supplement then excess potassium from fruits and veggies won't be a problem. If your kidneys weren't working well enough to eliminate excess organic potassium, the way to know would be to have your potassium levels checked (blood test). Potassium is almost impossible to avoid on 811, most fruits are quite rich in it, not just bananas. :)

Do you still need to be drinking lots of water when you're not eating 811 100%? How many times a day are you peeing roughly on avg?

Your body needs sufficient levels of sodium in order to retain water (potassium is used to retain water inside your cells and sodium outside). If your sodium levels are too low then you won't be able to stay hydrated, even if you drink lots of water. If you aim for 500 mg/day that should be enough to tell. 100 calories of celery (10 large stalks) would do the trick.

If that doesn't help then that you might want to talk to your doctor about your hydration situation. It could mean your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, which may be caused by thyroid, adrenal, pancreatic fatigue or something else. You doc should hopefully be able to help you determine the cause(s). Note that I wouldn't recommend telling your doctor ALL the details of your desired diet, they don't tend to be very receptive to the idea raw veganism or high fruit :)

Also note that eating fruit, even lots of it, should not cause high blood sugar. If it occurs it would indicate an underlying issue. See this from Steve Pavlina's blog:

I monitored my blood sugar using a blood sugar testing device, the same kind diabetics may use…Eating this way [raw food diet] gave my blood sugar more consistency than ever. I couldn’t spike my blood sugar on this diet if I tried. Even eating 19 bananas in one day made no difference.

Sorry to hear my friend, break ups are never fun, unexpected ones even less so. Better to have banana smoothies than Jack Daniels for sure, I give you respect for that :)

How goes it Sabrina dude?

Hey, the critical thing is to get the sugar under you tongue, it doesn't need to go anywhere else in your mouth. Since I've been doing this my teeth have actually been improving. I lost a fair bit of enamel on my top incisors in just one day from eating a lot of minneola tangelos (tangerine/grapefruit hybrids). That was a couple months ago, the enamal has actually been reforming considerably, and I haven't even been eating huge amounts of greens, though I probably should be lol. Brushing lightly 20 min after a banana smoothie is highly recommended though.

Getting up to pee in the middle of the night is a normal thing if you keep hydrated, it's not just 811 folk, athletes of all types too. Apparently humans actually awaken and fall back asleep multiple times every night, we only tend to remember if we have to pee or if we can't fall asleep right away.

Hey, sorry you had a rough time sleeping! What works for me is drinking up to a glass of water before I go to bed, if I ate enough fruit in the day that really knocks me out. I know you already drink about a gallon of water a day, but as long your body has lots of house cleaning to it'll need plenty of water. Don't worry you won't have to keep drinking this much water forever, unless you want to become an elite endurance athlete. =B)

Another thing I thought I'd mention, I've heard it said that as much as 80% of carbohydrates are absorbed in the mouth under the tongue. Others say it's only a small amount, but in any case the fact is you do absorb sugar from fruit in your mouth, it goes directly into your bloodstream. I've found it tremendously helpful to leave whatever fruit or smoothie I'm eating in my mouth for a bit and enjoy the flavor. I feel so much more alert and satisfied because of it. I want to do more research on this to understand why this is, but if you're not already doing so you can try it, it may help with the cravings.

No problemo dude, ya, they're not really meant to be consumed in large enough quantities to meet all your caloric needs on a 3000 cal diet. You could put a stalk of celery or a handful of greens in a big 1000+ cal smoothie if you wanted tho, but just fruit is fine.
