Crohn's disease runs in my family and I surely would have suffered long into old age had I continued on the eating lifestyle I was on. In my 20's I had a stomach ulcers, hiatal hernia and gall stones. I was in pain constantly. On and off for years I suffered. I discovered the HealthMaster blender in the early 2000's and started making green smoothies. That was the beginning of my journey to better health. I had no idea what I was doing was "eating raw". I eventually quit milk when I learned about it's side effects. That was 4 years ago, then 1 1/2 years ago I quit eating meat. And then my relationship with dairy altogether ended last January! I finally read 80/10/10 and was so affected that I cried tears out of shock - the animal cruelty side of things. Since then I have quietly advocated for the animals. I have never looked back and know that what I am doing overall is good for me, mentally and physically. I am 44 now, and feel like I am getting healthier every day.
My community of vegan friends is pretty much ZERO! Just last week I joined the NO MEAT athlete Facebook group out of Baltimore, and they do fun runs and get-togethers. I'd love to find a primary care doctor that supports veganism.

I worked for Dr. Ann Wigmore for over 22 years and wish so much that there was a support group nearby. I work with people who are wonderful and the 14 years I've been at work with them, they still don't eat like me and yet they accept me! I have 35 Haitian afterschool children in the afternoon and in the morning sometimes I counsel people at a clinic on reversing diabetes with this lifestyle. I used to have two websites: rawdoctors.com and rawlife.org and then I certified with Campell in Plant Based Nutrition and Barnard in Nutrition in Clinical Practice. Basically, I just steer people to raw and living foods. Even the famous doctors wonder how I have so much stamina and energy. I just tell them that it's electric food! I have a kit for the children that has metal electrodes that I stick in food and it lights a little electric bulb. It's very impressive and they remember it!
Thanks so much for the add anabea! It's nice to know there are HCRV's close by. I'm still transitioning. The plan is to go 100% raw Monday. My son will be with his dad for a week so I wont have to cook! Hope you dont mind if I hit you up for support and information from time to time.
My transition has been interesting. I went 100% over night in December and aside from a few pickles here and there I've stuck to it. I got horrible skin the first few months and only now can I wear next to no-makeup and feel okay, which I've never been able to do in my life. Digestion is getting better slowly but surely. I was quite constipated at first, but am now going about 2-3 times a day. I still love bananas no matter how many I eat, about 15-20 a day. I've been living this way for about 6 months now, 2,500+ and have had some weight gain, but I know this will eventually leave. Freelee was quite a bit larger than she is now after one full year of being 100%, so I have faith.
