My name is Zachery Murphy and I am from Tiffin, Ohio. I am currently a junior pursuing a degree in exercise science at thee Ohio State University. Running is my passion, particularly the longer distances such as marathons and ultra marathons. I became interested in the HCRV lifestyle when hearing of ultra marathon runner Michael Arnstein and the improvements that he saw in his running performance. I am hoping that with the support of 30BaD, that I too will be able to see improvements in my running as well as my overall health.

My favorite books include the harry potter series, the hunger games, ultra marathon man, and eat and run. My favorite movies are the Dark Knight series, Running the Sahara, I am Legend, and many others. My favorite pastimes include spending time with my family, running, swimming, cycling, lifting, reading, and every once in awhile watching some TV.

I am currently just beginning the HCRV lifestyle after being a vegetarian for one year. Since beginning, I have found it hard to maintain my training intensity of 60-80 mi. of running a week as well as cross training with lifting, swimming, and cycling. I am hoping that others can relate to this experience and provide me with the insight into how best to handle this transition.

To get started. Be sure to note food, calorie, water, sleep recommendations and log (can use www.cronometer.com or similar) your food/drink intake, at least for the first few months to get used to what you need to eat to stay on target calorie wise as well as macronutrient (carbs:fat:protein) wise. Even if someone is a long time, established, raw vegan, it is possible to discover some things using "hard-data"; spot trends, be able to make good adjustments, that might not be possible otherwise.
