lol, Four farmers markets!!! You are so blessed! We have one and I can't wait for it to start up the first week of May. Plus this year I am going to be ultra dedicated to the wild edibles we have up h ere. I have tons of huckleberries right on and around my land. Blackberries, plums, figs. Can't wait to forage!
I love the cold water, surfed at my local spot Deadman's Creek last week in Shelter Cove and it was so refreshing. took the 9 2 out and got my waves. It had been way too long! That's really sweet you surf as well. It's my favorite outdoor pastime for sure. Especially in the summer! It gets so hot working up on the mountain and the Cove is always 15-20 degrees cooler... love it. I've never tried standup but I would like to!
I'm really glad summer is almost here to, I love working outdoors in the sun and eating all the excellent fruit that keeps me going all day! Yum, just you saying watermelon is making me stoked. I've definitely had my share of being socially outside the norm! My huge smile and bouncy attitude always gets people wondering what I'm all about, especially when it's cold and dreary and I'm still dancing around the natural foods store getting my dates and tangerines etc... The way I explain myself is with technical information. I bludgeon them with facts about absorption and calorie acceptance versus calorie deprivation. It helps to arm yourself with the verbal ability to back up your lifestyle. I actually only have one friend who is HCRV, he's been this way for 8 1/2 years so it's been helpful to have him as a guru. Otherwise it would have been hard to weed through all the rest of the high fat pushers out there. telling people good things about their bad habits.
Best thing you can do is keep your head up and make friends with everyone regardless of food choices. Eventually everyone you touch will make better choices just so they can keep up with you :) Plus luckily we have this site to connect with people as well and show there is SO many more of us out here in this world!
That's cool you help people! I've only been living it for a couple months but I am so stoked for the way it makes me feel. Alive and young and ready for anything! It's good you get home with enough time to make a great salad every night! That's a big blessing. Have your taste buds changed yet to be craving certain fruits? Do you have a great store down there for organic produce? You're about six hours from me. I've only been to SCruz once but it was SO AWESOME! Like a humboldt vibe but with lots more people! Surfing down there was humbling as well considering I tried to surf Harbor entrance on a choppy storm swell. Cases of fruit are the best because you usually can get them for cheaper than shelf price! I suggest getting your tangerines, bananas, and apples in case form. I am stoked to make a new friend :)
Water is key as you know from 801010, I drink a quart in the morning and 15-20 min. before every meal. Three fruit meals a day! Use Mason Jars for your smoothies and dressings if you feel like having a salad at work as well. I eat one and a half heads of green/red leaf lettuce a night mixed with some romaine and spinach alternating to keep it fresh. Homemade dressing out of tomato, celery, cucumber, cilantro/parsley/basil (depending on what looks the best) I like to keep it fresh and interesting that's the best way to keep on it!
The easy way to stay raw at work is to plan ahead. Make large quantities of banana date berry smoothie and bring it with you in a cooler if your work doesn't have a fridge. Otherwise just bring lots of Raw fruit with you everyday and make sure you eat it in meal sizes. Buy a case of bananas and leave it at work. Hope this helps!
