My name is Tonya, and I began a healthy lifestyle after a life-altering injury last year. Since October 22, 2011, my priorities have changed, and I have, not only done my best to eliminate external stressors from my life, but internal as well. I appreciate my body and what it has the capabilty to do for me!

I center my life around being happy and loving everyone! I have a new found appreciation for life and for movement, and that is a gift I love to share with others through Yoga!

I became a vegetarian about 2 months ago and very quickly transitioned into a vegan. Those two lifestyle changes were easy for me, so I wanted to take it a step further and started reading about this raw lifestyle.

I was amazed at the difference in apparent health in those who eat this way. A friend stumbled onto 30bad, and suggested I visit the site. I have been reading the blogs for a few days and have found a ton of helpful information, suggestions ect.

I'm here to learn, grow and experience a life of health.

I have read a few books on eating raw, but most of which include recipes and personal opinions so far. I'm still searching for books that offer solid information on eating HCRV.

I need guidance and support in this way of living. I want to, not only grow into this lifestyle, but also connect with others who share the same lifestyle, ideas, etc. I don't have a lot of support within my community with regard to this eating lifestyle; It's actually the opposite. Most people are skeptical and question/ridecule this lifestyle.
30bad is a fruit-focused vegan internet community which promotes a high carb fruit based vegan lifestyle free of any animal products. What did I do wrong?

Well, I ate 30 bananas on Monday and by Tuesday, I felt bloated and was constipated; I still am. What did I do wrong? I had my green smoothie for breakfast and a salad for lunch (only raw veggies-no dressing) and had 2 c. of watermelon for dinner with the bananas. I don't know if my stomach is still too small to consume that much or if it was what I ate with it, but I still feel pretty set ack from it.  I felt pretty over-stuffed all day as well....


 Any suggestions, ideas,…

Well, last night I discovered the Cron-o-meter, and I was not happy to discover that (if this thing is accurate)i'm not at all eating properly! When I set up my account, I chose the HCRV option...


Energy 2834 (2666 net) kcal / 1372 kcal (207%)

47.4 grams protein (138%)

584.2 carbs (213%)

68.4 g fat (449%)


It appears that i'm consuming far too much fat and protein, which was discouraging, but today I woke up and meditated right before…

Hi Tonya,  I've been trying to transition to this lifestyle for 6 years, so I've had quite a long time to stretch my digestive capacity.  And so it is easier to eat big volume meals!  But it is so much nicer not to spend the whole day eating/ preparing food.  I have watched a video by Michael Arnstein, the Fruitarian, that he grazes all day and thinks that is the norm of animals in nature.  Doug Graham comes from the Natural Hygiene method that thinks you should eat 2-4 meals a day and have digestive rest in between. I'm not sure I have an opinion about what is "best" but I like having bigger meals and time off in between myself.  Just remember, if you struggle with big meals in the beginning, it will take a little while for your stomach to gain strength and elasticity.  Dr. Graham suggests take a few bites more past that feeling of full if you are still hungry.
