When I was 15 I decided to go vegan but failed terribly as I didn't educate myself well enough. I didn't believe in eating meat however so I stayed a vegetarian until about 6 months ago. I suffered with bulimia and anorexic tendencies for all of my teen years and suffered a lot with body image. As I got older I learned to love myself more but I felt there was more I could do for my health and body. My boyfriend started telling me I lacked protein and needed meat to help build muscle and lean out so in September I tried eating poultry again and at first I felt great (because I was making a lot more home meals with lots of veggies and nutrients) but I noticed I felt like crap when I ate meat alone or would have a burger. I felt horrible on the inside as well because I was going completely against what I believed in. I have up the meat again after about a month and a half and started binging out on fried foods and couldn't understand why. I fell right back into my binging I started researching and found out I was lacking a lot of nutrients and I also found out how addicting processed foods are. I was looking up weight loss stories on Tumblr and came a cross a video of Rice and Raw stating her struggles with binge eating and weight. She said she was a high cab vegan and named all the benefits. I instantly knew my calling and started looking into the high carb low fat vegan lifestyle. I found Freelee The Banana Girl videos on YouTube and watched nearly everyone. Everything made so much sense! I had stumbled across a video of hers before but thought "oh I could never eat like that, it would be too expensive and too much" But looking at it now it made sense. I failed on the vegan lifestyle before because I wasn't eating enough, I was calorie restricting and eating a lot of vegan junk and fatty foods to stay away from the "scary" carbs. I started following Raw Til 4 a little loosely. I don't follow the exact diet but I eat a high carb fruit based diet with some greens thrown into my morning smoothie and for dinner I eat a high carb, low fat, low salt meal. I'm on my third week and I have already lost five pounds, my energy is sky rocketing, my skin is clearing up, my belly isn't bloated and I feel as though I see the world more clearly. I decided to join the 30bad community so I could meet more people and possibly make some vegan friends in my area.
