I would like to understand why the body would spend energy converting fat into usable energy (i.e Burn it off) when you get a enough crabs in. It does not make any sense why the body would do that. If I eat just a little bit of fat it is like someone has lit my internal furnace and within seconds I am stripping off layers finally warm.  The choice seems to be  80/10/10  or warm but not both. Any ideas, responses, thought,m experiences gladly received.See More

HI,
I have been raw, with occasional blimps, since 2006. Having just completed a series of juice feats top off with a water fast I am finally changing the most important thing about my health - my mind! Rather than a drag, "because I know raw food is logically right", I now delight, there is no other way.
I run ukTherapy.Info which is a site for promoting alternative therapy and therapists in the UK and I am finding it very hard to keep my passion for raw food to myself whilst in the workplace! Since joining 30BaD I have learnt that I know nothing and no wonder I have had no energy!!

Hey Sarah! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you about the avos...In the beginning I did eat avocado a lot, but not more than 1/2 a large or 1 small per day as to not go over 10% of calories from fat (I was very careful due to problems with hypoglycemia, too). If you're craving lots of avocados, make sure you're eating enough fruit calories, at least 3000 per day. If you're eating enough, feeling  consistently and sustainably energetic, and still craving avocados, then I'd say it's 'safe' to listen to your body and indulge in a little extra fat (up to 15% of calories) for awhile...maybe a couple weeks and see how you feel?

Personally, I did crave avocados while transitioning until I ate around 3500-4000 calories per day (while remaining pretty active), I then lost interest in overt fats and ate some avo maybe once a week, if that...sometimes I get avocado cravings for a couple weeks, so I'll eat some every day during that time, but I evenutally return to mostly fruit/low overts...Specifically for hypothyroid, I feel that low-fat and low overts are best (for me), but unfortunately there isn't much 'scientific' information out there for hypothyroid-low-fat-raw-vegans :-(

if you are trying to find greek bananas, it may be better to start a thread than do a group. we've seen this sort of thing die pretty quickly because no one finds the group. at least with a thread you can bump it from time to time.

also, due to the recent purging of extraneous groups, yours may not even be approved, so the other option may be a more desirable one to pursue.
