I'm a 37 yr old recently single father....not by choice :-( I love anything health related. I'm your typical "health nut" and will talk to anyone who wants to listen. I went vegan Aug 2011 but when the wife split in May 2012, I fell off the wagon for awhile. Been doing P90x program on a plant based diet but wasn't getting the protein needed and way to many carbs for what they recommended. I decided to start following their "diet" guidelines vegan style but felt like a fraud cause of all the processed crap I was eating...although I was seeing some nice gains. Decided to start month 2 of the program doing the 80-10-10 (currently reading the book) but I just got laid off about a month ago and can't stop eating. Today I logged about 6500 calories (raw..mostly dates and bananas)....can you eat to many calories on a raw diet? My stomach always looks bloated. Insight please

Rule number one: start with 15x your target bodyweight (current + no more than 10%) in calories every day. Then make darn sure to progress on the barbell squat, some form of bent row (or chins at this point), and some from of upper body push. Stay with the same routine for at least three months (provided that you maintain picture perfect form in favorable-to-your-leverages exercises) and make some real poundage progress. Six to ten reps, or a few more if you need to be kind to certain joints. Leg work is always at least ten, preferably 15-20. Main thing Stephan is progress. If you do not increase the poundages weekly or bi-weekly, especially on the squat, then  DO NOT continue without a complete and honest review of your training duration & frequency, sleep and food intake. This is all the info you need to get started. Just make sure to take what I stated here to heart- no substitutions. Take it word for word. (Like the best things in life, all the most important info can be printed on an index card. What is left is simply for us to do it with diligence!)

Hey, I would say keep doing what feels right with your stomach. Work out hard, drink water and sleep, and you will do fine. When I started hcrv I did a similar thing and always bloated. Now I eat just 4 meals a day and the bloating is down and the calories are down to a "normal".
