Our community would be delighted to know you better. Please tell us more about yourself and what brought you to 30BaD. Detailed responses will only be accepted (feel free to reapply with more detail if at first not approved as a member). I have been vegan for the past 5 years and have enjoyed every minute of it... well, almost. I truly want to be the example I want to see in the world, but have struggled when it comes to my weight, lack of muscle and not being comfortable in my own body. I'm relatively active, play on a competitive volleyball team, enjoy Bikram yoga, run occasionally and have attempted P90X about 10 different times, never completing the full 90 days. Although I am vegan, I consider myself a "junk-food" vegan, eating a lot of processed foods high in fat and salt. I am 5'10" and currently weigh 175 lbs. I have pretty much stayed at this weight not gaining/losing much no matter what I did (Except for the 2 times I did the Master Cleanse, which I now know is not healthy, and dropped to around 160lbs. Which obviously did not last very long). I have come across the Raw-Vegan lifestyle through Facebook, Twitter and other sources throughout the years, but never thought I could really do it or if it was something I would be interested in. I have gone through every summer since being vegan promising myself that "this is the summer where I will not make excuses when I am invited to pool parties." But to no avail, summer comes and goes and I repeat the same dreaded cycle... I also consider myself to be one who finds himself a shoe-in for the term "skinny-fat," and actually was told this a while ago at the gym (the gym I haven't attended in forever, but still pay for!) when I took a dunk test (where they immerse you in a tub of water and take your measurements). I feel a bit hypocritical when talking to family, friends and the general public about the health benefits of veganism when I don't feel or look the way I would like to. As I write this, I am on day 3 of a high carb, low-fat raw vegan lifestyle after reading 3 books by Victoria Boutenko; Green for Life, Green Smoothie Revolution and her most recent, Raw & Beyond. I also just completed from Fat to Fabulous By Alison Andrews (which I absolutely loved and is the reason I found out about 30 bananas a day!). In fact, I am running to the bookstore tomorrow and getting "The 80-10-10 Diet!" I look at this new lifestyle as a natural evolution in my vegan journey and want all the support I can receive. I am not giving up because I want to look and feel the best I am capable of, for vanity sake, but most importantly for the animals and the planet. If my looking good, shining inside and out, will help spread the message of veganism, than shame on me for not doing the best that I can do. I look forward to soaking up all that I can about changing my health... Let the journey begin!

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
Besides all things vegan and health related, I enjoy reading historical fiction, science-fiction, vampire related movies and books, along with action & adventure.

I have 3 favorite podcasts; Citizen Radio (a politically progressive show that discusses everything from atheism, feminism, Occupy Wall Street...), Red Radio (A vegan podcast hosted by Erin Red) and Opinionated (A feminist podcast hosted by Amanda Marcotte & Samhita Mukhopadhyay).

What I should be eating, how much I should be eating, what should I eat before and after workouts, how to not stray, especially in the evenings, etc... The books that I have read so far have been great at explaining all of this (and I can't wait to read 80/10/10), but I find it invaluable having a place where I can turn to on a daily basis (especially in the beginning of this amazing journey) for inspiration and focus! Thank you!
