So I guess I will just dive right in... why am I here...
Eating has been an issue for me my whole life. When I was a kid I hated meat and fish, and I was a self proclaimed vegetarian. As I got older, I wanted to "fit in". I started eating fish and meat and other crappy foods.
I was an active competitive dancer as a kid so my metabolism was high from all the activity. When I got to highschool and the activity slowed down I put on weight, had chronic issues with constipation, acne, moodiness etc.
No one taught me how to eat as a kid... it was all... oh, your young, you can eat what ever you want... thus, I had no idea how to eat as an adult.
Fast forward to today. I have two degrees, one in biology and another in chemistry, and I am currently working on my masters in business (MBA). Here is what is really sad... ready... After all that and a couple of nutrition classes, I still had no idea how to eat. Even at the collegiate level they teach a pro meat and dairy dietary life style. So, being the good student I am, I followed the book... to a T!
I actually ended up gaining weight.
Here is my horrible secret. I hated my body and thus I was depressed about myself for a long time. I was taking laxatives everyday, going to the gym, and experiencing weekly 8lbs weight fluctuations. I even started toying with the idea of bulimia. Not healthy mentally or physically. I never crossed the bulimia line... I say that like it's a good thing... sheesh!
So about three weeks ago, I was looking up education videos on evaluating Net Present Value for organizations on YouTube... you can find everything there. During my search I ran across Freelee's Banana Girl videos. So I watched one... then another... then another... I was hooked.
As a "scientist" I am skeptical about fad diets etc. But the raw vegan lifestyle made sense to me on some fundamental level. So I started researching it online.
Finally I decided... what the Hell, give it a shot.
After the first week, I knew I was done eating any other way. I started going to the bathroom regularly, I stopped using laxatives, I feel better, focused, and hydrated. I have energy to pull all nighters... just overall better. Well, better after I started learning about food combinations... lol.
Anyway, I don't know any raw vegans, and I wanted to joining a community where I can be excited about this lifestyle.
So that is why I am here.

I watched your videos and first off You are really pretty and look so healthy! Your picture does not do you justice. I watch 80/10/10 type videos when I ride my elliptical so i will add your channel . The more info the better! :)
Thanks for all your advice! I totally hear you about being the only one in my house that is raw vegan. I am the only one that is vegan at all. Sure it would be easier if someone else ate like me but it doesn't bother much usually. I have been vegan for about 8 years and my family has been on and off at various times. So they have tried. Yes, I can't wait for the farmers market to open! My husband and I go t a motorcycle event in salem called good vibrations and we love riding over to through silverton and to this little fruit market (where they sell strawberry shortcakes in front) and getting some local fresh fruit. YUMMM!!!!! Have you been there? Most of it wasn't organic but I'll eat local sometimes even if it's not. Have you lost weight eating this way? Even in the 4 days I have been following it 100% I think I notice a little weight loss. I'm not weighing but my pants are starting to feel a little less tight. ;)
Hi Nicole...Thanks for checking on me. ;) Transitioning has been going great except for yesterday I fell off the wagon. I decided I am not going to beat myself up though and start counting my days over again. Just going to continue on my path and consider it a bump in the road. ;) I always want to do things perfectly without a hiccup and I guess life just isn't like that. I see you live pretty close to me. Salem is a beautiful place! How are you doing? How long have you been following this way of eating? Have you had any set backs? Do you find it easy?
