I am a 37 year-old mother of 3 young kids, married to a meat-and-white-rice husband. When I met my husband 12 years ago I was mostly vegetarian, just because I preferred vegetables, legumes and grains over meat.

I let myself be swayed very quickly to his meat-eating ways and only recently, within the last 6 months, have I returned to the way that I prefer to eat. I have found myself not eating meat or dairy at all, without any intentional decision to become vegan.

My sister introduced me to the concept of raw foods a few months ago and I looked into it and started on the gourmet high-fat path. I was shocked and confused when I experienced a return of some candida symptoms that I had eradicated a few years ago! (now that I am familiar with DG's ideas on it, it makes complete sense).

Then I found the concept of fruitarianism through searching online, and I immediately thought this was worth trying. I have been eating loads of fruit and a big salad daily. I still eat one cooked meal a day, which is steamed greens, sweet potato/grain and legumes. I would like to go totally 811 in time, though.

Since starting with all the fruit and greens I no longer get sick with every little bug the kids bring home from school. This was a real problem for me--especially any time I jumped up my running or cycling. I was sick just about every 6 weeks! I haven't been sick in 2-3 months now :) This in itself is reason enough for me to keep going with this way of eating.

I'd like to join 30BaD to learn more about how to make this lifestyle work--and to link up with people that don't think I'm a loon for scarfing down entire paw paws and watermelons :)

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
I've been reading a lot of health-science/nutrition books and material lately. I like sports-related stuff too (how-to and fiction, mostly cycling and running). An old favourite author is Ayn Rand. I'm currently reading "The Choice Theory" (saw it recommended by someone on 30BaD).
I haven't seen a movie in waaaay too long. I have started to watch some of Food Inc on you tube.
Durianrider & Freelee started this site to bring together high carb, raw vegan and vegan lifestylists' across the Globe! 30bad is a high standard and high performance team! We're here to help you make our team! Let us know what high fruit assistance do you need?
How-to help, like how much to really eat, how to get a grip on cravings/over-eating, how to handle nay-sayers, family gatherings etc.

I also love the info I am finding in the fitness forum, and am especially interested in DR's expertise in cycling training.
30bad is a fruit-focused vegan internet community which promotes a high carb fruit based vegan lifestyle free of any animal products. Settling in (for the most part)

Posted on January 30, 2011 at 10:39pm 0 Comments

I have been transitioning to lfrv since last Aug or Sept or so.  I've been doing just fruits and vegs (except for commercial fat free salad dressings) since Jan 2 and even managed 2 social occasions without veering off.  I've really had no desire for other foods at all, even when preparing food for my kids.

Last night I had another event and I just went with the flow and ate some sweet potato mash and breadfruit "pudding," rice and peas and even a bit of cake for dessert.…

hi Marissa!!!!

how cool!!

i don't know anyone else here on this path either!!! it's too much for people to want to give up their extra tasty food that they have here i guess! lol

yeah, if your sister's interested, let me know and we could link.

I also teach yoga here, so if she's here longer then just for carnival (we're closed for that week) she could come and try out a class or something!!!
