I've spent my life struggling with my relationship with food. Going into high school as an actress and a cheerleader, I felt a lot of pressure to maintain the "perfect," slender body type. It became so important to me that I stopped eating altogether off and on for the better part of two years. After seeing the damage I was doing to my body, I realized I needed to change. So I started to binge on fast food, junk food, candy, chips, soda, etc. and that has been going on for the last two years. After gaining 73 lbs in the last year and a half, feeling sluggish all the time, and not even being able to climb the stairs in my house without being out of breath, I'm ready to do something good for my body and good for the rest of the world. This is what I've been searching for, and the fact that there is a community to provide information and support is a blessing. I'm ready.

I love the HP series--even got a tattoo :)
I also love poetry, punk rock history, Albert Camus, and texts on philosophy.
Horror movies are my favorite, but I also enjoy a great cult classic now and again.
I'm a musician, a singer/songwriter, and an animal lover. Right now I have five ferrets, and they are my whole world. :)

I'm not quite sure where to start. I have a lot of recipes saved and a good, extensive shopping list to start with, but I'm not sure where to find some of the ingredients, due to living in a small town and having limited choices of market. My diet also will not be shared by my housemates, and that poses a potential threat to my progress I would think. I need some good tips on how to stick to it and find acceptable substitutes for things I can't get here.

Day One: Morning

So far, so good.

I woke up after a decent amount of sleep, and I'm guzzling away my breakfast smoothie which consists of:

5 bananas

2 oranges

2 carrots

3 cups of water.

And it's tasty as hell. ;)

It's about 700 calories, so I plan on making a snack a little bit after this to tide me over until lunch before work. I'm thinking a quinoa salad for dinner would be easy enough to take to work with me.



Day Zero

Weight: 180 lbs

Height: 5'0"

Diet: very poor

Exercise: typically nonexistent

Emotional outlook: depressed

All of these things will change. Yes, all of them.

I work night shifts at my job, so things will be a little difficult to get into the swing of at first. BUT, tonight after work I will: go shopping, shower, write, and NOT DRINK ALCOHOL.
