My name is Katie, I'm 24 years old and have recently began the high carb low fat diet. I have been vegan for about a year and a half for compassionate reasons but that does not mean I was healthy...I certainly wasn't. I have had massive issues with food since I started dieting when I was at school, probably around 16 years old. I was in a terrible cycle for years....I wouldn't let myself eat very much (usually well under 1000 calories a day) but when I slipped up I felt so incredibly guilty that I would raid the cupboards and binge...I felt out of control. After bingeing I would feel even more guilty, so I would make myself vomit it all up again. This cycle would repeat itself over and over again until I was bingeing and purging 4 or 5 times a day. Then I became really sick....I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease last Novemeber. I have been in and out of hospital the past few months but starting to get a little bit better. My illness has made me seriously reevaluate my eating habits and I'm annoyed with myself that it has gotten to the stage of chronic illness before I have changed my lifestyle. I have done ALOT of research....books, YouTube, documentaries....and thanks to Freelee's blog and YouTube channel, I have decided that this is the lifestyle which will help me to recover from Crohn's and my eating disorder. I'm so excited to becoming healthier than ever but I need support while I do it.

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
I have been reading a lot on nutrition lately and the books which really hit home for me was The China Study. I've also really learned a lot from The Starch Solution and I'm about to start 80/10/10.
Before I was sick I did a lot of running, so I'm that once I am recovered I will be able to get back into that again. I also really enjoy daily yoga.

As I'm trying to recover from Crohn's I would love some advice on what foods to eat. I am also a bit anxious about falling off the wagon as I have a history of disordered eating. I hope to meet other high carb, raw vegan people and get lots of motivation :-)

Hey Katie - thanks for finding and adding me so quickly. Feel free to message me as often as you want with any questions or rants you have - I've been high-carb for about a year half now and quite settled into it, in the weight loss stage. I'm part of a facebook group chat of 10 other high carb vegans - most of us in Dublin - and we meet up when we're free for stuff like eating out and cycling and stuff. Look forward to talking with you :)
