I've been a runner and triathlete for about four years now. In the process of going from the couch to ultramarathon, I've lost 52 pounds and have reshaped my diet from unbalanced meals placed sporadically to a low fat vegan diet, especially high in carbohydrate loaded fruits and vegetables. The change has also revised my education, switching 3.5 years in to include nutrition in my degree list. I now hope to try transitioning to a raw diet, constantly in pursuit of a better version of me.

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
Running, biking and anything that involves more than fossil fuels and a pedal. I also love to cook...well, bake more often... As far as movies/books and the like, anything that will expand my horizons, with particular interest in foreign culture and language.

I'm not to the 100 mile distance yet, but I'm into the 50k/50M/100k distance range now, and am concerned less about the quality of the food, but the quantity I will be able to consume. Please please please help me calm my nerves and give me some suggestions on taking the first steps towards LFRV.

Hey everyone, any help here is greatly appreciated.  I've had a very rough few months, regressing to a not so strict vegan diet only.  I'll be moving home shortly (finally done with allll my schooling) to live on the cheap while I find permanent work.  My family is comprised of meat eaters who like to supplement their meat with bread and potatoes, not exactly the ideal setting for a LFRV lifestyle.  At the same time, finances shouldn't be too bad, and I'll have access to a nice dehydrator.…

As winter hits and the gloves come on in the frosty north, I'm finally hitting the quality of running I had a couple months ago before my foot decided to fall apart during the TNF 50 miler.  Perfect timing right?  I'll still whip on the raceready shorts a few times before the snow gets too deep.  Anywhooo...looking for some suggestions for LFRV snacks to stuff in the hand warmer.  Preferably something that won't…

broken foot, broken heart

After prolonging the visit for far too long, I broke down and got my right foot checked out.  It starting falling apart about 3/4 of the way through the North Face ultramarathon a couple weeks back, and the pain has refused to subside.  Turned out to be a Jones fracture of my fifth metatarsal, for which the best remedy is...as feared...immobilization :(  No set date on my return to the trails, but every day without running is another day of heartbreak.

While this should probably be posted in the runners forum, something is causing me to stick around here for a while.  With all but 1 race out of the way this year, I've got some time to experiment with race day nutrition (next "big" race could be as far out as the pineridge farms 50M in May).  To all those who run (at any distance) and fuel themselves with a LFRV diet, do you have any jaw dropping, amazingly effective tips for me??  I've ran just one race as LFRV, a few as vegan, and who knows… Continue

I may in fact be the only lonely fruity bitch here.  I will vacate soon though. Too cold, as I found out not too long ago, frozen bananas are actually dead bananas.  :( So.....I gotta get out. Where are you from btw?
