I hate to be that noob, but I am legitimately wondering how we are meant to get enough calcium and iron in a day. Also kind of wondering about selenium?Do you eat a ton of oranges/citrus fruit? Do…Continue

Hey guys, so I know that a lot of 811ers won't wash/maybe slightly rinse their food with water, but I don't have access to much local, organic fresh food, so I must resort to conventionally grown…Continue

My name is Josee, I am French Canadian and boy do I love bananas! So I am 22 years old, going back and forth between working short contracted jobs, enjoying time to myself, and going to school in spurts. I am figuring it all out, maybe not under society's time frames and demands, but I feel good the way I live my life. I may go back to school in the next year, but if I don't, I don't. Anyway, some of my passions include languages, various arts (theatre and poetry mostly), philosophy & progressive thinking, love, and most recently, fitness and nutrition. Though I was a competitive figure skater throughout my childhood, I was always chubby and super self conscious about my body. In high school I became completely sedentary and though I braved a smile, I hated life. I hung out with "bad" crowds. That continued on for a few years, then I moved out of my parents' house, and drugs happened. Frequently. I was throwing my life away and flunking school. I felt even worse about myself for disappointing everyone, especially myself. So I knew I had to do *some*thing. I reluctantly moved back home, cut off the drugs, then stupidly decided to "gain control" of my life by restricting what I ate. I was at my highest weight at the beginning of that, so nobody suspected much. I decided to start exercising. Over-exercising at first. For a while.. but then something in me decided I wanted to be healthy and strong. Not skinny and dainty. So over the course of a few months I pulled myself out of it, started eating more, and better, and exercised to feel better. Not to punish my body for the food it needed. It has been about 4 months now, and I think I was able to stop myself from fully developing an ED just in time, before it consumed me, because now I just ignore the voice in me who wants to be just skinny. I want muscles and vitality and happiness. So I'm doing well, I was on a SAD diet until about 20 years of age, then turned vegetarian, then turned pescetarian. I decided recently that veganism was the way for me. My diet/lifestyle is not some weight-loss solution for me anymore, I now see that veganism is a lifestyle that is healthy, intelligent, and ethical. There is no turning back for me. I came across the HCLFRV lifestyle on youtube, I saw one of Kristina's (fullyraw)'s videos, then stumbled onto Freelee's and durian rider's videos, and found this awesome community. I am so excited, this is the lifestyle that makes sense and that makes me happiest, and though I'm obviously transitioning into it, I know for sure that I will eventually become a true banana girl. :) It's the only lifestyle that makes sense to me, definitely. So I have been 100% vegan for 10 days (yes, I had slipped up during the holidays, but hey, I was just starting out!) and most days I am 100% raw, but I do have the occasional baked sweet potato. Like I said, I understand that I must transition correctly and that can take some time, but I know that won't be too long, because the little bit of raw lifestyle I've experienced so far has been really exciting and beneficial already! Since beginning my HCRV journey (so since before my 10x100% days), I have already experienced a huge improvement in my mood, my energy, my mental clarity, my digestion. I have quit drinking alcohol and quit smoking cigarettes. I am active because I feel like it, not because it's a chore. I feel stronger. I am loving all of this already!

I am looking for connections and inspiration to keep up with this lifestyle. I have been reading all the info I can, I plan on reading 80/10/10 as soon as I can get my hands on the book, but for now I am just trying to make this work for me while staying active, I want to connect to other HCRV lifestylists for moral support, tips, and simply to exchange positive vibes!
