Nice to meet you :) I don't sign in often...
I've been on and off raw for almost a year now. In July-August of 2009 I really got in to 811. I did awesome for two months, and felt great. Then I went on a trip and that was that.... Anyway, I'm trying it, once again, I think for the third time this year.I've been vegan for 4 or 5 years, and this really is the easiest way to eat. My biggest issue is social outings/restaurants... My goal this year is to run marathon (or two) and I have never even run a race before! So I'm starting training very soon, and want to do it all 811 LFRV.
I have never been tested for candida and was not aware that there was a test available. Is it from a naturopath or from a "general practitioner" ? I just got my vitamin D results and they were O.K.. I am only taking 400 iu a day, wich is not a lot but was lucky enough to spend a week on a Caribbean Cruise right before my test. That could of boosted my numbers. I had not heard that Dr. Graham said we did not need any overts. What I'm hearing is that most of the raw community is not sure about the long term effects of no overts. Hopefully things will go well, either way, time will tell. Yes, it is also a beautiful day here in Nova Scotia (Canada).
Just a heads up, recently I have been having some tooth sensitivities, be cautious with all those fruits (acids). Take time to at least rinse your mouth with clean water if you cannot floss and brush. I hope things improve for you. You are on the right track. Take care, Pauline
I find the no overts is a mind game. If I let it bother me mentally and worry about it then I start to to think that I need some. If I listen to my body and it is feeling good, then why worry, my body is not ready yet. I hope things will improve in time, of course there has been many improvements and things will continue to get better. Spring is almost here, and that is always a good thing. Take care, Pauline.
Sorry the website won't let me post every thing I had written so I will continue here......
I am 51 years old, never been overweight, love to exercise. I bike ride, yoga, walk/run, tai chi and loooove the outdoors. I have recently added one more thing to deal with- Peri menopause. As you can see i am still dealing with my own issues and I really do not miss the overts. I have been healthy and have tons of energy. I hope my story has helped you. If you have any more questions or anything at all please feel free to contact me. I hope you find health and happiness, take care. Pauline
Hi Johanna, You certainly are having a multitude of health issues. My main problem has always been my digestion. That being said I also have had candida for many years and also fivromyalgia. My candida symptoms were body rashes, mouth sore, light headed, allergies, and digestive problems. My symptoms of Fibromyalgia are body aches and pain, also muscle fatigue. I have been 100% raw for 3 years with a few cooked vegies the first couple of months when I started Raw to calm my stomach and bowels. I have been 80 10 10 for about a year and as soon as I started my candida was gone. First time in 25 years (or so). I was amazed but unfortunately as soon as I reintroduced overts the symptoms reappeared. So in the last year I have had minimal overts, just trials with no success until the last couple of weeks. I read on" rawfood.com" that greens will not greatly affect the digestion of fats so I have been trying that. Lettuce and celery with 3 Brazil nuts. Only twice a week and I have not had any symtoms as of yet, my fingers are crossed. I have only tried this three time so I really don't know what the outcome will be. I have recently had ultrasounds of my gallbladder, pancreas, liver, kidneys and spleen. Everything was normal, but of course it does not tell me how they are functioning. I also had blood test done and thins were normal. I do take a sub lingual B 12 and a Vit. D. My B12 was normal/high and still waiting for my vit. D results. I have tried Vit. D's that were impossible to digest, but found some organic ones that seem O.K.. and yes that is Vit. D3. The 80 10 10 is much easier on my digestion and if I food combine or have mono meals that makes it even better.outdoors., take care. Pauline
