Hey man, you may like to read David Klein's book "Self Healing Colitis and Chron's". It might help with your digestion and elimination. You don't need to have those conditions; the advice is universal. It helped me. It is available at his site and via torrent.
My doctor told me they are safe, but I am still paranoid about them. Anyone know any 80-10-10'ers that are galactosemics? I supposedly cannot have dates, but I love them, pineapple, papaya, watermelon, figs, blueberries or grapes and other fruit. As well as any legumes such as beans, lentils and peas. Although tomatoes contain galactose I can handle them. It seems I would have to either restrict my diet even more or consume alot of questionable foods. Are any of you dietitians? I could do 811 and eat alot of what is safe, alot, mostly greens.
I don't know how many words I can type in this so I'll break down into small episodes.
I have galactosemia, galactose diabetes, a genetic metabolic condition when the liver lacks the capacity to produce the enzyme needed to metabolize lactose and galactose, found naturally occuring in nearly everything to differing degrees. Unfortunately, bananas a key component to many raw vegan diets, contains galactose. I was told, until recently, to avoid them.
