I have been a vegetarian for more than eight years and a vegan for almost two now. I went to True North Health Clinic in Santa Rosa, CA and discovered a salt, oil, and sugar free vegan diet. I lost 30 pounds and have been working on the last ten or more for quite some time. My digestion is very sensitive. One day I came across Freelee's youtube channel and began my unlimited banana journey for about two weeks until I had to move. It's been hard to continue the lifestyle because of living with my brother who has done the 811 lifestyle before and no longer agrees with it. But I am wanting to do 30bad behind his back for a couple of weeks. He tells me eating my days calories in one meal isn't good. I should only consume 1200 calories. I have been there, done that. I binge, have cravings, and am always hungry. I don't agree with restricting calories. I believe it's about the nutrition density put into the body. I have watched all of the youtube videos and agree 100% about everything.

To get started. Be sure to note food, calorie, water, sleep recommendations and log (can use www.cronometer.com or similar) your food/drink intake, at least for the first few months to get used to what you need to eat to stay on target calorie wise as well as macronutrient (carbs:fat:protein) wise. Even if someone is a long time, established, raw vegan, it is possible to discover some things using "hard-data"; spot trends, be able to make good adjustments, that might not be possible otherwise.
P.S. When I was a kid, I worked at a grocery store. They ALWAYS called on my day off and if I said I would not go in, they would brow beat me over it forever. My Mom would never say "He is not here" or "he is not available" but always, "he cannot come to the phone".... yes tend to be verbose, but don;t worry I'm going somewhere with this I promise! LOL! :) Anyway, because she had this thing about "lying" I was constantly either in trouble, or working on my days off. It was miserable. One night we had our local preist over for supper and I complained to him about the situation, he thought about it for a moment then said "lying depends in part on whether the other person has any business knowing..." Which made sense to me!
Anyway, what I am getting at is I hope you do not feel bad about doing this without including your brother, who has tried it and decided against it, as is his right. I think that what we eat is one of our supreme individual human rights, no one should tell us what we must or must not eat. Sure they can offer advice, but for some reason people get so riled up about it, like politics or religion. I think your plan is very good, get some time under your belt, feel awesome. Maybe you'll even be able to help him figure out why it did not work for him at some point!
My guess is that if he tried to do 80/10/10 with calorie restriction, he would feel terrible! Low energy, hungry all the time... Yeah high carb low fat is best with LOTS of high test fuel! :)
