I've been on and off raw foods for the past six years. From the moment I heard of the raw lifestyle I knew it was right for me. However, I couldn't seem to get it right. I'd find myself spending so much money on super foods that were supposed to be 'vital' to my overall health and yet I still couldn't thrive on the raw diet. I was eating minimal amounts of fruit because I was told that was the way to go but I hated most of the pates, cakes, cereals, and other high nut dishes in the raw recipe books I'd acquired. I simply didn't know what to eat so the only times I could sustain being raw was when I was 'cleansing' as this didn't require me to eat sufficient amounts of food. I would always feel as if I were starving!!! I feel confident that I can stick with raw by incorporating fruit as my main calorie source. It certainly is more delicious!

To get started. Be sure to note food, calorie, water, sleep recommendations and log (can use www.cronometer.com or similar) your food/drink intake, at least for the first few months to get used to what you need to eat to stay on target calorie wise as well as macronutrient (carbs:fat:protein) wise. Even if someone is a long time, established, raw vegan, it is possible discover some things using "hard-data"; spot trends, be able to make good adjustments, that might not be possible otherwise.
