I've been vegetarian since the age of 10, vegan since the age of 15 - both of these came very naturally to me. Now at 24 and nearly a year of transitioning I've decided I feel ready to be raw vegan. Unfortunately though I find myself using a lot more of the denser calorie sources found in fattier foods than I'd like to be using, and would love to learn ways to replace these with low fat options. I'm also looking to be part of a community, because whilst my family are coming round to this change, they are still bewildered by it, so I'd absolutely love to interact with others who understand how much I love eating healthy, clean and pure foods! I have struggled (and still struggle to some extent) with body image issues for much of my life, and I am thrilled to be immersing myself in a diet and lifestyle that makes me feel good. It was only a year or so ago that I started exercising, and now I'm in love with it! My mum sees how grumpy I get if I can't exercise :-D So I'd love to be part of the whole lifestyle that 30BaD is about - to be supported as I work out what the heck I'm doing!

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
I was given a copy of "Plant Based Nutrition and Health" (Stephen Walsh), and whilst it has some limitations (such as minimal coverage of raw diets, although it is mentioned) it is proving a very useful go-to to understand vegan nutrition, with substantial scientific referencing.
I must admit I LOVE the whole Skinny Bitch series, even if I don't share their fondness for soy.
Absolute favourite movie of all time: Bold Native. I watch it far too often, but I'm always trying to drag extra people to watch it with me in the hope the message might speak to them too!
I love being politically active, going to demonstrations, but I feel like since moving to a new city I've lost touch with all of that - but I'd love to start again.
(Geeky side to me - I also love family history and will happily spend a day in a kirkyard noting down gravestone inscriptions!)

As mentioned, I'm pretty new to this. I'd love to know how to substitute the high fat foods I've been eating more of since becoming fully raw, more recipes so I don't feel limited by this lifestyle, and to feel like I'm not alone in this pursuit I'm keen to join the 30BaD community to chat with like-minded folk. Essentially I'm looking for people I can chat to, both as friends and as a source of information and guidance as I inevitably come up with questions on this lifestyle.
