I first started to eat apart from my family when I was younger, about 12 and became a vegetarian. After that I began to learn about veganism. I wasn't interested until I began to get lots of stomach aches from all the dairy I was eating which was motivated by the lack of meat in my diet. I stopped eating dairy and continued not to eat meat but my stomach still hurt. I then began to get very strict no dairy but my stomach still hurt. Finally I gave up all animal products and that's when I heard about being gluten free. After giving up gluten I found my stomach aches went away but now I no longer knew what to eat! It felt like I had little to not options.

Now I've heard about eating raw from my best friend. A couple of my friends are trying to eat raw but we're finding it to be a hard transition. I'm looking to be fully raw as soon as my body is ready to be.

You fall, and you get back up

Posted on January 20, 2014 at 6:57am 3 Comments

Fallen fallen fell, not completely, but partially, off the band wagon. I'm not going to be coy about this at all. I found myself falling away from raw food as I grew more uncomfortable. I was hungry, I wanted salt, and I just wanted something with a tangy taste. I wanted, not even necessarily cooked food, I wanted salty food.

I've learned through my programs, we relapse in our minds before we physically relapse. Food has been an addiction my whole life. I feel like raw is…

What to do when a friend comes into town

Posted on January 8, 2014 at 7:52am 1 Comment

I've got a dear friend coming into town on Friday. He's a vegetarian but no where near raw foodie. I'm posting about this now and I'll have a post-friend visit blog entry also.

I'm so very nervous about it because a lot has changed since we've hung out last. I'm sober, eating raw food, and I'm not intaking any nicotine or caffeine these days. I don't want to rain on his parade but I don't want to compromise my lifestyle to accommodate his either.…

good replacement for persimmons???

Posted on January 8, 2014 at 7:49am 0 Comments

I haven't been able to find persimmons in Portland anymore. Does anyone have a good persimmon like fruit or something to replace them with? I was thinking maybe mangos but I don't think they're in season either.
