So beautiful, ednshell! To your point in the comment below...I have seen SO MANY wild turkeys the last two years! I spend time in the Green Mountains in Vermont every summer and the past two years there have been dozens of wild turkeys along the side of the road feasting on bugs. I was driving in upstate New York last weekend and saw 5 beside the road. And I see them often in Massachusetts. I read that there are more than 7 million wild turkeys in North America. They're making a nice comeback. Love the art work you made! Thank you and have a great, great day!!

Yeah it would be an interesting topic. Especially since I'm the only vegan in my family. " what if the turkey was made to be our national symbol and here you guys are eating it. ". How would that make the United States look to other countries? Enemies would think to just "gobble em up".

Oops it was Ben Franklin not Einstein.

Amy, great point about the Eagle, would people eat it or is it sacred like the dog or cat in The U.S.?  Great question for the Thanksgiving parties! :D

I do remember reading about B. Franklin proposing a Turkey over an Eagle for an American symbol, interesting stuff, here is a little piece I found on the topic: http://www.nwf.org/News-and-Magazines/National-Wildlife/Birds/Archi...

Oh WL that reminds me of the beautiful tribe of turkeys we saw in the woods last year while camping.  :)

Einstein originally propositoned the turkey to be our national bird. Instead of the eagle. Can you imagine what would happen if everyone tried to put an eagle on their table? Those people in line at stores right now should be decapitated and stuffed right along with the birds. Sorry I'm being so outspoken but I believe wild turkeys are such beautiful birds too.
