Objective of this group

Hmmm, I created this group because I would like to learn about this topic, which I believe is very different from foraging. My vision here is to share tips and links to identify clearly the wild plants that can be eaten, depending on which area of the world you live in. The tips could be used for survival purposes but would not be limited to them...

I live in the north of UK and I'm eating a lot of wolf berries on my hikes at the moment.  They're delicious, taste like jelly tots!  You have to spit out the seed as it's poisonous but this is no problem.

OK, well, thanks! I guess they could not be a staple then, but as a quick sugar fix break they can do wonders :) You're right about regular grapes - I also find their skin which cannot be digested, becomes heavy if eating too many of them.

Hi, sorry for the late response busy busy neways ... that is true the seed is large relative to the amount of fruit and for me the answer is no, even with 'regular' grapes like the red grapes I find that i can eat a couple #'s of them and my stomach is still hungry for something else, also they are really sweet so I can only eat about a pound or two at one sitting which doesn't suffice as a meal for me ... please share if it is different for you :D

Thanks Star Surfa, quite informative. I read that the seed makes the most part of the volume of the fruit - did you find that you can actually make an entire meal of these?
