Oatmeal Banana Cookies (inspired by this recipe)
2 cups rolled oats
3 large bananas
1 cup finely chopped dates
1/3 cup applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F; and mash the bananas in a large bowl. Stir in oats, dates, applesauce and vanilla. Mix well and let set for 15 minutes. Drop a tablespoonful onto a cookie sheet; and bake for 20 minutes or until brown.
I didn't have ripe bananas on hand, but luckily I had some frozen bananas. I also didn't have applesauce, but had apples. I peeled the apples and diced big chunks to boil in some water, for 20 minutes. After the apples cooked and cooled, I added them to the mixture along with the thawed bananas.
These cookies are so delicious and healthy, and they're a great snack for kids that have gluten intolerance.
I think it's a great idea to produce food that both humans and animals can eat.
I concur Herbivore Lion. Nice find Cassie, this is what I've been seeking. Honestly, when I found out about the raw vegan diet I was more interested in it for my pets then myself. I was often annoyed when people talked about how healthier they were. Screwdriver the humans, I want to know about healthy eating for my pets.
So how are the oatmeal cookies? Does the dog like them? How about cats?
I'm really start to have doubts about the quality of the meat served from factory farms. Factory farmed animals are living in far from ideal circumstances, the quality of their meat surely must suffer. Its just dang, change is hard.
