Thank you once again ednshell for the wealth of info. I watched the video and read Adriene's post. I understand if I gain a bit while by body readjust to the new lifestyle. 

I have to say that today was the first day I actually was craving fruits when I got hungry. Yesterday I was craving protein like crazy by night time. It was all I could do not to cave in. I came in and ate two oranges and was full. SWEET!!!

Yes, 2,720 calories would be your minimum on days you stay in bed and sleep all day. ;)  Add more for activity.  So 3500 is probably a good place to start on your less active days.  What happens is you feel so good on lfrv, lots of oxygen and energy, that you just have to move and be busy, so then you are getting enough exercise to eat enough to get enough nutrition, then you sleep longer hours with better sleep.  It all starts with eating enough calories from fruit and keeping the fat intake to 10% or below.  Eating plenty will also help ensure that you don't fall off the wagon.


Of course the first few months or so you can gain weight while your body is healing up and adjusting, especially if you have ever calorie restricted.  Adrienne wrote a beautiful piece here about it: Accept of possible fluid/glycogen/fat/blood/lymph weight gain  which can always be found in our All aboard the Banana Welcome Wagon! at the top of the main page.

@HereKittyKitty I would not tell someone that there is no way they can be hungry after eating anything. Everyone is different. Thanks for your input.

@ ednshell, Thank you for the information! I tend to eat small meals all day long as well as that is what works for me. I have never stuck with any diet plan because I stink at the calorie counting thing. So let me see if I get this right. I am 149 pounds so that would be 68 kilos and times that by 10 we get 680. So I need 680 carbs and if I times that by 4 we get 2,720 for calories. Is that correct? Now if I am wanting to drop a few pounds do I go less than those numbers or should I wait till I can adjust to this way of eating. I have always eaten a ton of fruit but have always done processed food as well but not a lot. Once again thank you!

Hi Nash, ya, if you want more to eat, go for it, if it's really close to your last meal then eat the same fruit or one that will combine well.  Michael Arnstein has been on 811 for over 4 years now and he eats all day rather than a few meals, this is just what works for him.  Starting out on 811 it is easier to eat smaller frequent meals, just keep stretching your ability to take in more by adding an extra bite or two to each meal after you feel full.  Listen to your body and use your intellect with objective measurements by tracking daily fat and calorie intake with chronometer or the like.  Stick with High calorie fruits  in the beginning and you can even skip the greens until you are able to get in enough calories from fruit.  10 times your weight in kilos to find carbs needed and multiply that by 4 to get calories needed.  This will meet your basic resting needs, add more for activity.

I am so new at this that I think I was just born :) I have been reading and reading and I know that my confusion will one day be met with understanding. Till then I have a few questions but will start with this one.

I see some people eat 3 or 4 bananas and some who have gotten use to eating more. My question is, if at the moment I can only eat 3-4 in a smoothie how long after the smoothie can I eat say 3 or 4 more? I am under the understanding that it takes two hours to digest bananas. But if I am hungry an hour after my banana smoothie is it ok to eat another one or should I wait another hour? Could this be a personal thing as to what each person can handle and it is learned through trial and error?

Thaaaanks like...a looot!!!!! I was wondering myself how much fruit should I eat everyday, but I just didnt know! I wanted to eat, and eat and eat, but I started thinking about calories.. thats when I freak out a little haha ;)
