30 Bananas a Day!

Hello HCRV lovers!

I've been For the past 2 days I've increased my intake of bananas and dates. Yesterday I ate 14 bananas and 10 dates. I usually limit myself to 5-6 bananas on average and 3-5dates on average because I like variety of fruit. I dont usually get acne, and I've never had a huge problem with it,  a breakout here and there when Im on PMS ever since I started the HCRV lifestyle.

I found that I break out the next day everytime I overeat on bananas and dates? I think its the dates that are causing it more because its more concentrated. I've NEVER had a problem with my face when I over eat on other fruits. Ive eaten pounds and pounds of strawberries, nectarines, apricots and grapes on some days and I DONT wake up the next day with a breakout. I also find that if I INCLUDE more romaine lettuce with eating fruit and increasing spinach in my dinner salads help speed the HEALING process of my breakouts.

Has anyone ever experienced acne on too much sugar? or a certain fruit?

Hi Esther,

I love love love dates, but I have found that if I eat the older ones (ie not fresh, moist, chewy, the way they come in the US in the Fall), too many can make my face reddish. Even when I soak them and blend them into a smoothie. I don't know why this is.

But I also have sensitivity to strawberries in volume, grapefruit (which is REALLY sad because I love grapefruit), not perfectly ripe pineapple, and cherries. Oh, and peaches make my mouth itch. Even organic.

So, at least in my case, I don't think it is too much sugar, just that my particular body is sensitive to some fruits, and I have to be aware of this.

So, my advice, cut back on the dates and keep observing your body & its reactions closely. We each of us have a unique genetic background and our own history of eating/drinking/prescription drugs & otherwise. We're all coming from imperfect pasts and our bodies will heal in their own way.

But I hear you on the dates.

Oh, and like you, I do well with lots of greens too :)

hi Esther :)

I've also had clear skin all my life, but recently bananas and belly peppers have been causing break outs. it took me some time to figure out what exactly it is, but if I don't eat them, within days my skin is beautiful again.

I don't think it's the amount of sugar. I eat as many calories with or without bananas, now I just fill up on peaches, nectarines, melons and all the other juicy beauties :)

have you tried only eating bananas OR dates for a few days, like 4 days no dates, 4 days no bananas?

yes, I've experienced the same, eating lots of greens is great for beautiful skin and hair :)

unfortunately, it doesn't prevent me from this weird recent reaction to bananas.

curious to see if anybody else has experienced similar things! or maybe there's somthing in bananas but not in other fruit that's causing it? I've speculated it might have to do with the GI/GL thing, but I'm not well educated about this and don't want to make false assumptions...

a friend told me 'that's what happens if you eat too much of one thing over a period of time. your body's getting allergic to it'. but it doesn't make sense to me and I refrain from believing it's true.
