Has anyone else experienced digestive issues initially coming onto this lifestyle?
Im coming from anorexia and bulimia, and have found my digestion and elimination is all over the place, sometimes it seems regular but then ill get cramping boating and won't be able to 'go' for about a day.
If anyone can offer any advice or suggestions it would be appreciated :)
I am over 50 and 35 days into fully raw and yes I am experiencing some of the same issues but I am thinking it has to do with the amount of food and water I intake for the day and I guess to an extent the amount of exercise I do. Also I think the dried fruit might be causing some of the elimination problems because I never ate dates or raisins before going fully raw though I had been a vegan who had at least 2 raw meals a day.
So I am thinking it is just your body adjusting to the raw roughage and perhaps nutriments it maybe we use to, so try to hang in there while it makes some changes.
Hi Haven, Thanks for your reply. I will minimise the dried fruit because now that i think about it it might be whats contributing to it.
Your relatively new too, how have you found it so far?
nine months in and my digestion still is messed up.
it has gotten WAY better tho
i actually poop after i eat xD
Yep, one of the reasons I decided to join this website! I am coming from binge eating disorder however, but the amount of damage I have done already to my body is ridiculous. I have a hard time digesting fruit in high amount although I feel like I will be able to succeed at this. I get the cramping bloating as well, and it's very discouraging. I don't have advice yet but I'll definitely share!
The lifestyle has been on and off.. well, okay. Today is the first day I decided to get serious about raw till 4 specifically, however, I've been on a raw food diet a little while ago when I wasn't sure at all what was wrong with me, before that a year or so on a pretty much vegan lifestyle and on and on, I've switched so many times 'cause of BED and not knowing the cause of my problems! I really hope that raw till 4 will work and possibly start a complete new lifestyle on it. I've done so much research and so many years of different things (all aiming on health though) that lately my head has been hurting 'cause it gets so tiring.
How long have you been on it? I just find the digestive disorders to be so disheartening on such a healthy diet! (and I mean any diet I have tried - whether that be raw vegan, ect)
Ive only been on it for a little over a month. It was what saved my from falling badly into my eating disorder. Since eating this way I've been completely fine, but like you mentioned the digestive issues are so disheartening, and it makes me feel like I'm going backwards in a way.
I know i have to tough it out, and wait for my body to repair and trust me again, but its so frustrating in the meantime. I don't think its uncommon for girls to come from eating disorders to this lifestyle and find it a solution, as i found a lot of you tubers and others when researching that have been healed in this lifestyle.
It would be great to have a mentor, buddy or support network starting out because it is challenging!
Yeah I can see how this can help people from falling back into their eating disorder, I would love to have a support group or buddy because it's challenging but at the same time it's exciting. So far things seem to be going good for me, I really hope that if I stick with this and understand better than my digestive issues will be cured. Also though, more importantly the whole binge eating thing, if that goes away I know things will get better.
Yep, we just have to make our bodies trust us again. I've seen lots of girls as well with eating disorders strive with this lifestyle so let's hope it works out for us! Of course you've been on it for longer than me in a sense though haha so that gives me hope too!
Im glad everything is going well for you so far! i know how disheartening it can be going through all these problems and not seeing results but I've just come to accept that its a process ill have to go through and be patient with.
I understand with the binge eating thing, my fear is that ill relapse and binge out on foods that really aren't good for me, but so far eating enough of the right foods have kept me away from that.
A support group of some sort would be great (i think thats what this page might be?) and I'm happy to be buddies and support each other seeing we are going through similar things? Ill inbox you :)
Like you, I came from an eating disorder to this lifestyle, and had digestive issues. Anorexia/bulimia/any other eating disorder is bound to wreak havoc on your digestive system, especially when it comes to your gut flora. Be patient, drink plenty of water, eat enough, avoid large amounts of dried fruit if possible (or you can soak them), make sure your fruit is ripe, and try to relax. Stress is a huge part of digestive health, so practicing meditation, positive affirmations, and doing activities that you love can be a big help. I've been on this lifestyle (hcrv) for two or three years now, and my digestive health is loads better. Keep at the fruit and you'll be fine!
Love and light,
Oh--and sleep! Getting enough sleep is HUGE!! :D
