30 Bananas a Day!

I've recently transitioned from eating vegetarian (with a lot of weight struggles after an ED past) to HCCV/Raw till 4 (currently studying abroad and living with a host family, so eating 100% raw is currently not possible--planning to change that when I'm back in the states!). I wanted to know if my weight loss goals were realistic though.

So far, in 2 months (not sure how quickly because I just weighed myself for the first time since I've been abroad last weekend) I've lost a total of 8 pounds while transitioning to HCCV and being more active. I also think that I'm finally letting go of my ED tendencies--which I have struggled for 7 years now. I'm done with restricting calories and am committing myself to a lifestyle. I'm no longer buying into the idea of water fasts for quick weight loss (which I've done for 19 and 21 days in the past) or in starving myself.

That said, my goal is to lose around 5 lbs a month on this lifestyle, which I think is completely reasonable. However, I was wondering what you all thought? My physical activity is jogging around 5 to 6 k around 5x/week. I'm not really monitoring every calorie, but I'm trying to get 2000 since I'm still eating cooked food.

Opinions?

(more bg information on my ED--I'm pretty sure I'm out of starvation mode as I've gained back weight when I stopped purging and started just eating a SAD Vegetarian-style diet the past 2 years, though the ED mindset and desire to drop weight fast were still present though I "failed" at restricting consistently and binged more; currently 5'3" and 143 lbs)

So glad that you have found this lifestyle and are making moves to fully recover from your ED. POWER!!

It's good to have goals, but your body will dictate when you lose the weight and how fast. It's outta your hands--as far as giving it a number is concerned (5 pounds per month).

You will need more than 2000 calories per day to continue to lose weight healthfully. 2000 cals is below the recommended amount for females.

If you are eating minimum 2500 calories per day, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep and exercising as you want, the weight will come off with time.

You are on the right track having found this lifestyle already! Get excited! Carb the fruit up and ask yourself what you want to do with your life! And before you know it, the weight will come off.

This is not a quick fix or a weight loss program. This is about lifelong longevity, vitality, enthusiasm, and health--but longterm you will be a lean bean if you stick with it.

I just upped my calories to 3000 and I exercise minimally. I want the weight to be released sooner rather than later, so I am eating more and more every day so that my metabolism stays high and my body believes we are no longer in a famine (your ED is the famine).

Good luck--do some soul searching and see what your answers are. You will be inspired and you will need those carbs to make it all happen.

CHEERS!

I can understand where youre coming from. I struggled with ED and its been hard adopting the change in mentality switch. I'm of similar weight and height but do love my cooked foods. If you eat cooked veggies do you know if we should be lowering the calories? I ate 2800 calories today (maybe more) and only did 45min of moderate cardio. Should I be eating less and working out more?
