Anne: you don't like the name? *sniffles* I put my heart and soul into coming up with that, you're a big jerk-head. ;)

I'm open to suggestions for a different name, particularly if a cooler one can be conceived. I will add though that I tend to rely on the 'soft sale' and 'bait and switch' approaches as opposed to the 'hard sale' (e.g. lfrv is the only way to go, as Appleman says). in many if not most cases that may be far more effective than being preachy or in your face, though it depends on the situation and one's speaking style of course. Spreading the lfrv message means in many cases being extremely patient with others wherever they at and using the most subtle means of persuasion possible in order to set them in the right direction, imho.

Awesome idea and I am honored to be invited, but I really don't like the name. Missionaries have a very negative connotation in my mind. I don't want to be thought of as 'preachy'. Sorry to sound like a jerk... I definitely want to get lots of ideas for all of you smart, lovely people!!

AM: yes great advice, the impromptu talk you did at the diabetes conference is the stuff of legend btw! when you get a chance post a link to that blog entry on the missionary blog roll page. it's a must read for everyone.

sdal: request acknowledged :) I'll post an outline of what I taught, and flesh it out as needed.

WD: it's true that for some talking 1-on-1 or in small groups is the way to go. I'll start a discussion on how to spread the msg when talking with individuals.

Hi! B! Great idea! I second the request for more information that you used in your talks. More people could get out there and do it if they had some basic guidelines to follow.
