30 Bananas a Day!


I'm new to the 80/10/10 lifestyle and need some advice about how best to tackle the diet whilst having CFS.


I have read Doug Graham's book and have also listened/watched alot of Durianriders talks.  Both guys are greatly inspirational and both are highly athletic.  What I am wondering is about how much should I be eating?  I've heard the 10g carbs/kg recommendations, but is that suitable for me if I am using a wheelchair (can only walk very very short distances i.e. just a few paces)  and spend most of my day laying down? 


My hope is that my tolerance for exercise, movement and walking will improve, as I improve my diet.  And hopefully I will gain more energy and feel less sick.  But in the mean time how do I make sure I eat enough without gaining weight (Already have weight issues).


My other question is how did the change in diet initially affect your CFS symptoms?  I have heard lots of people say on here that long term it has made a huge difference to their health.  But did the symptoms get worse first?  Or change?  I guess I am worried about the "CFS payback" that I am used to experiencing.


At the moment I am raw for breakfast and lunch, but am still transitioning with my evening meal.  I am getting small spikes of energy, but feel the evening meal really brings me back down.  I know that I need to tackle this asap, but I am struggling to make that final meal raw. But know I am on the right track.

Hi Zoe, if u eat enough calories earlier in the day, u may find it easier to eat raw at dinnertime. The cooked food cravings come when u need calorie dense foods from not eating enough fruit earlier. Also, I'd be avoiding all overt fats (avocado, nuts, seeds, oils, etc) and just focus on fruit and greens. And stay well hydrated.

Also, can you do some sort of physical activity? Walking in a pool or swimming? Ab crunches? Upperbody weights? Anything?

I am new to 80/10/10 as well, my sister has had CFS for nearly 30 + years (along with every other ailment that tends to join it overtime) and has been housebound for most of that time too. I was her carer for about 10 years of it, so I 'get it'.

I am hoping to figure out this lifestyle for myself and hopefully see if it can help her too.

As for your calories, you could work off your BMR (Base metabolic rate), google it and get a basic idea of where your calories should be and then try that, see how you feel and if you are putting on or losing weight etc. You might just have to see how your body responds and play it by ear.

I remeber feeling worse first but that was very short time an i was doing 100percent raw . so yea take it slow dont exercise until you feel spark to,could take months . but no i wouldnt suggest 100percent to start off lol but i was in hurry to feel better . nut no i couldnt do exercise for maybe 4months an glad i didnt push . when i started exercising even 5 squats was too much but now at 6months most days i do 100 squats an also go fishing run around town lol , its like i been chained up so long an now im free from a prison

IF you are struggling to do the final meal raw what i would suggest is dont be so restrictive at diinner i use to make macadamia n date balls if i got hungrier after a salad for dinner an im finding coconut water not the packaged stuff helps fill me up . you could even try avocado wrapped in nori rolls . as you are new you can slowly cut down on these fats as u go . but this is how i did it an i have virtually no days now of fatigue. i was most part of last 7yrs bedriden between 70 to 95 percent . and now run around like a bl;ew arss fly lol DONT HOLD ME DOWN !
