30 Bananas a Day!

Probably somewhere tropical or subtropical right? What do you know about the government and regulations? How hard is it to gain citizenship?

My thoughts are, Ecuador, Bali, Thailand, Brazil, Costa Rica.

For me South Florida is the winner for now because it's easy to move there if you're in the US, no hassle.

I'm in the process of buying the land right now and will get back with updates later.

It might be a year or so, or even a few years down the road for us... gotta get everything set up. We plan on starting to make a living online, through Youtube and maybe an online store or two. (I enjoy making art.)

But, once all of that is set up, we are definitely thinking either Florida if we wanted to stay in the US, or Thailand or Costa Rica right now. But it changes as we get more info, and I definitely need to look more into the government details of Thailand and CR!

Okay, my boyfriend and I have officially decided that, assuming we are able to make a living online, we will be moving to Nicaragua as soon as we are able to. So, that is our place of choice. :)

Why? Because it's cheap, and the economy there is currently slowly building back up. It sounds pretty stable there, and it's tropical so plenty of fruit! Also, it's just north of Costa Rica, so we could always take a drive down there to see the sights whenever we felt like it.

Realistically... Florida/ Texas or southern Oregan/Northern CA for me... You know- one way to profit- have few dwellings for vacationers that we could all pitch in w/ maintenance- it could be a Limited liability Coorperation 'resort'-- just a thought- I mean- if the Amish did a bed & Breakfast type of deal- I would go.

Costa Rica for me.

I'm not so sure Africa is SO culturally different than EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD!!!

Apparently some people have done really well in different places in Africa in this lifestyle and there are some places...Ghana and Kenya in particular that are very open and supportive of health and environment and change that could be very promising.

Costa Rica is quite expensive now, and in the northern hemisphere (see radiation below).  Bali, Thailand and many parts of Asia already have problems with flooding, and this will continue in coastal regions on the planet with the ongoing weather changes.  Note this flooding also will apply to the US, especially FL, east and west coasts, and HI.

See below for info on current flooding:

Most of the northern hemisphere is already having to deal with the ongoing radiation from the Fukushima meltdowns, so I would prefer focusing on southern hemisphere.  Therefore this leaves high ground in South America, Africa, and Australia.

Of those choices, my preferences from most to least preferred are:

1)  Ecuador (Ec) - I have lived there for 3 months, and LOVED it.  Great weather 50-80F year round, very fertile land with year round growing season, great fruit everywhere, many locals doing their own growing, low cost, progressive government / leadership, many like minds there or considering going there.  Large ex-pat community and many English speakers already there.  Good and improving infrastructure.  Economy doing quite well now during the ongoing global recession / depression.  Lots of new projects & foreign investment.
2)  Colombia (Co) - More potential security issues here than Ec.  But everything else similar.  Costs maybe slightly higher.
3)  Bolivia - More potential security issues here than Ec.  But everything else similar.  Costs maybe about same as Ec or slightly lower.  Small or no ex-pat community of English speakers there.  Growing season shorter than Ec, and country poorer so less infrastructure.  No access to coast for shipping, travel, fishing.
4)  Brazil (Br) - High ground will have to be found here.  Costs also higher than Co & Ec.
5)  Argentina (Ar) - Abundant high ground here.  However, more expensive than 4 above, and there is a winter in Argentina, therefore not as long a growing season.
6)  South Africa (Sa) - Great weather and year round growing season.  More potential security issues here than all 5 above due to decades of tribal conflicts and very aggressive behavior;  rapes a problem here.  Costs similar to Ar.  Well developed infrastructure.  English is one of primary languages here.
7)  Australia (Au) / New Zealand (Nz) - Focus on high ground here, as flooding will be a major issue on coasts & in low ground.  Good weather.  Costs higher than 6 above.  Well developed infrastructure.  English is primary language.

What about Chile'?  I know a few years ago they were reaching out to support international artists relocating to their country, so citizenship or visas are very easy to get there if you can prove you're an international artist, which shouldn't be difficult, we're all creative right?
