hi freelea n everyone else

'Im wondering whether to change the new site & make it broader? Like all natural women, how to drop all the mainstream chains of society or something...ideas welcome'

yep, i'd be more into this... like... what do you all use for menstruation blood? assuming you all haven't stopped bleeding completely yet?! me... i just use old rags, cut up t-shirts, been doing this for years, sometimes rinse them out and use the blood water on my plants lol. it amazes me when i find that others are still using tampons etc. there's so many things that we are sold as women from a really young age that we need... when we really don't.

other ideas
natural contraception (there was a thread about this a while ago i think)
cleaning products for the home (heck... don't have a home freelea style!)
shoes/barefoot (as in please never wear high heels again :-))

brain not flowing today... but sure there's loads and loads...

and not wanting to link women with being the main child rearers, but... there's a whole world out there of children as accessories, child related products, nappies, etc etc etc... must have, playing on responsibility of parenting to BUY BUY BUY. glad mine are a bit older and we're not plugged into it any more.

probably too far away from original purpose i guess....
food for thought though

Thanks for joining ladies!
Yogaranka, that's really inspiring that you have such high standards for your health, family & work environment.
We have lost many many 'clients' because of that, but it is a choice I must make: to work in an environment without perfumes, heavy lotion smells etc
-If only these clients realized the service you are doing them...
Great to have you onboard :)

Welcome D! Glad the idea appealed to you, I thought it was time !

Cool Catalyst I appreciate your input, Im wondering whether to change the new site & make it broader? Like all natural women, how to drop all the mainstream chains of society or something...ideas welcome
Yeh im over the toothpaste & soap too, no need on LFRV lifestyle..

further to what i wrote above...
definitely no scent! and hate it on other people. like when i'm stuck in a train with people with aftershave on. yuck.
and since 811, no toothpaste, and recently no soap either! water does the trick. i sometimes use aloe vera too if i have sunburn etc (very rare), or a cut or something. and very occasionally olive oil on my face (if i'm washing in chlorinated water which seems to strip out natural oils. that's it.
its sort of funny me joining this group, and i looked at the new forum too... but i just really am not interested in discussing this sort of stuff generally :-))) its just not part of my world, i'm so far away from it lol!
clothes... well... what with freeshops and the odd charity shop, and clothes swapping with friends... IF i need something.... i'm down to a couple of shelves of clothes that i actually wear... am so far away from being a clothes horse lol!

phew... can i go back to talking about food, please :p !

seriously i'm sure this is great to discuss for people who are challenging themselves getting out of the fashion ratrace... so maybe i'll pop in every now and then and see how y'all getting on

emx

Well, I can't stand make up of any kinds...not even creams of any sorts on the face or anywhere else on the body. Exception to aloe vera gel when I get a bit too much sun. I raised 3 kids with the same values, so my daughter, who will be 23 this summer, never wears anything either...she colours her hair for fun though, which has other health ramifications ( I think she'll grow out of it soon ). I'm all for getting the message across.... we all shine in our natural appearance, no need to put on a face for someone else. I also promote the no scent policy around me, and in the yoga studio where I work. We have lost many many 'clients' because of that, but it is a choice I must make: to work in an environment without perfumes, heavy lotion smells etc. and keep enjoying the clean air, or put up with such, just to make a few more bucks. The choice was easy.

This is worth a read....

To: All Women of the Earth/Other makeup or cosmetic users
The use of makeup or cosmetics at social outings is seen as an inappropriate waste of time and money, in addition to serving as a telltale sign to others that you require external aids in order to look beautiful.

Both men and women alike all over the world believe this, and now is the time for you to decide your allegiance.

Makeup or cosmetics, is defined by dictionary.com as "A preparation, such as powder or a skin cream, designed to beautify the body by direct application."

We believe the above thesis statement is true for the following reasons:

Makeup/Cosmetics are an excessive and completely unnecessary precaution taken to ensure that a person's outward appearance is pleasing to others.
Time, money, and resources used on taking the precautions stated above are simply used for superficial means, and therefore are simply wasted.
Additionally, using such items detracts from the natural beauty of the human body. Instead of being ourselves, we become manufactured dolls.
By using such items, you support the pseudo-standard of beauty that the mass media and advertising campaigns put out into the general public. This standard is completely rubbish, as it is unreasonable due to the fact that often times models are pictured in a way that is impossible for the human body to obtain naturally, and in order to obtain it in the first place, you would require various expensive cosmetic aids.
The way the majority of makeup/cosmetics is manufactured does not nearly justify the price that is charged for it. For example, things such as cover-up powders are simply just a mixture of chemicals and dyes.
Going along with the point stated above, "The ingredients of modern cosmetics may also surprise those who use them: lipstick, for example, can contain fish scales -- or, rather, the "shimmery" substance of fish scales called "pearl essence". Pearl essence is obtained primarily from herring and is one of many by-products of large-scale commercial fish processing. The red color of many lipsticks is from the dye carmine, made from the crushed bodies of the cochineal insect," according to www.wikipedia.org.

Makeup is makeup, regardless of the amount you use. Please, sign this petition and pledge your loyalty against using makeup. Men, take this time to let your significant other know that you're against them being someone they're not. Women, join together and rebel against the strict social beauty expectations, simply be yourself, that is all you need to be.
