Don't emphaSIZE!

My 80/10/10 journey and my new experiences in the process - as well as past experiences before that - have inspired me to create this group. Because I find too many people being obsessed with being thin. Optimal health and peace for all beings should be the goal. That is what I find 80/10/10 to be all about. I also personally prefer hearing success stories focused on better health through 80/10/10 instead of how someone looks.

This group is also related to support those who suffer or have suffered from eating disorders.

I agree with you both, Athena and Esperanza. We basically think the same thing, just said it in different ways. It is true that it isn´t good to want to be very skinny, for instance, if it means not being healthy. And also, a healthy weight will not be the same for everybody. I think that a healthy weight will probably be the weight that we will feel good having :-).

@Loane, thanks for your reply. Well I think to be honest when health becomes the priority, and one eats the foods that make them feel healthiest, weight becomes pretty irrelevant as it basically just does its own thing! Being very overweight or underweight is usually a symptom of malnutrition or another health problem -in itself it isn't really anything. I agree that one can feel unwell when overweight or underweight, but then that's a sign that the body as a whole isn't healthy. So then eating a healthier diet to improve overall health and losing or gaining weight as one aspect of this can be beneficial. What I object to is when people choose being at a certain weight over their health because of social pressures or for other reasons. And I think it would be sad to spend time worrying over not being a particular weight when you could be having fun! In my view a healthy body and outlook on life makes for a beautiful body, whatever the weight!

@Loane, I've had weight problems too and have wounds from this lookism-society. Whoever follows this lifestyle will reach their healthiest potential. I believe it is more than okay to feel great, but I don't think it's okay at all to base feeling great on a certain shape or form.

Well, I don´t really agree with you Esperanza. I have had weight problems, have been severely underweight and have battled overweight too. I am doing 801010 for my health and for feeling good in my body. Health and a healthy weight go hand in hand! if somebody felt healthier but overweight or underweight on the long run, I don´t think he would want to do this diet for ever. Because they wouldn´t feel good in their body.

Look at the pictures of Freelee. She attracts so many people on this site because she is SO thin and beautifull. Durianrider and Freelee are also weight loss specialists.

For me, health and a healthy weight, they belong together.

Of course, it is important no to focus only on the weight, but rather on health. But I don´t see anything wrong in wanting to reach our ideal weight and wanting to feel our best.

Thanks for joining! I love this group too, which is why I created it. ;)

I couldn't agree with you more Rawcelt! I suffered from eating disorders myself - Binge Sating Disorder from when I was a little kid until I was 14, which was when my anorexia took charge until I was 15 and a half or 16. After that I still had thoughts and body-image/self-image problems. Now I'm 25 and this lifestyle makes me stay clean for good! Nevertheless, I am sad when I see posts on this forum when people complain about gaining weight, whether temporary or not. I also don't agree with promoting how thin or thinner one is or may become. Rather promoting how much healthier one is or has become should be the message here!

I absolutely support the aims of this group. Anyone who has ever suffered an eating disorder understands what a private hell it is. I want to see people set free of that suffering.
