Aloha! I started running about 5.5 years ago when I came to Hawaii. I liked sports but always thought of running as intentional torture :D. Then a new friend introduced me to the idea of barefoot running and suddenly I loved it. Felt like walking in the mall in my PJs or something. Now I'm working on my 2nd marathon and ultra distances. Anyone on Garmin Connect or Nike+?

I just started getting into Barefoot "Walking" haha. Need to strengthen my feet before I start running. They're sensitive mainly on the pads, so going to take it slow and work my way up. Recently bought a pair of Vibrams just for when I go into stores that I need to break in xD. I got into barefoot walking after realizing my feet would hurt so much after work (I work at a grocery store as a stocker) so I wear athletic shoes. Never liked high heels, so at least I never destroyed my feet due to them. Then I looked into barefoot walking and how natural it feels because I would walk around the house barefoot all the time and sometimes outside. I fell for the lie that shoes help us, but after realizing wearing shoes all the time going outside into stores, working, etc, it has weakened my feet and made them too delicate. I'm so glad I found this group!

Ok, i will try to be fast but understandable, and sorry about my english! 

I've been running for about.. all my life (non professional) but in barefoot just a few months.
What i want to know about you guys, its the moment of transition. I got injured two of my ligaments in the knee when i was 14 (now I'm 25), i broke them and i didn't want to make any surgery, so here i am, i feel pain on them. 
What i understand about the transition its that should be for a long period of time (it depends in many facts), progressively more time in barefoot. So i started running 4k (2.5miles) the first week. I had muscle pain and i thought it was normal. So i continue increasing the distance. After a month, i was running 12k (7.5miles) because i use to run 25k (15.5miles) so i said -ok, two months or three its ok for the transition. And that was the moment when i felt my ligaments again. 
I was so worried, i felt like when i broke them. If someone of you guys knows which pain I'm talking about, you know its far from been a broken bone. You don't believe in any god when you break them! 
I stopped running for a month and now, I'm thinking to run with 2 or 3 drop shoes for at least 6 months. 

What are your thoughts, experiences or suggestions? 
I need more info through internet, because were i live there are no barefoot runners, i swear I'm the only one! Hahaha

@ toni, I love my Huaraches. Similar to william depending on how much i've been running my top out at around 7-8miles and with my huaraches I can go all day no problem. I just did 2 week backpacking trip with my huaraches and a pair of vibrams an was able to go bare for about half the day or when there was nice dirt...then I'd throw on the sandals or the vibes to finish out the day or when the incline got really steep, I find the inclines either up or down take a bigger toll on my feet than more flat ground. mostly the skin because the increased friction of grabbing the ground when going up.. : )

This is so freaking awesome! I am new to 30bad and can hardly keep up with the awesomeness! And then I find the barefoot club ! Holy moly this great!

Greetings my barefooted friends. I am an avid barefooter and very racist against toe casts(shoes). I truly believe shoes are the root of many of todays musculoskeletal issues. Lol a loving kind of racist tho! GO BAREFOOT!

@Paula:  as far as sore feet go,  I used to soak mine in a foot tub of cold/ice water after my runs.  It really seemed to help and my feet stopped getting sore after about six months.  Also, I started running on a sidewalk for maybe only a quarter mile at first.  I slowly increased it over the weeks and months.  I started in the spring of 2011, by winter (snow and ice here in Spokane) I consistently was running 1.5-2 miles at least 5 days a week.  By the time spring came around again, I was quickly able to jump to 4-6 miles on the road (not even eating lcrv at that time).  Then I switched to trail running in the spring of 2012.  I had to take it slow again at first to get used to the new way of running on an ever changing trail terrain, but it was sooooo much fun, like running an obstacle course.

Yeah, mine is in the pads too. It even turned purple at one point... I think I got too excited lol I have searched online, but have found nothing so far.
