They say that leaving some durian shells piled in the corner of your room will keep the mozzies away. If you don't mind the odor, I'd love to know if it works!

I've found that leaving the overhead fan on all night keeps mosquitoes away. Not sure why, but its worked for me. Mosquitoes LOVE me, and their bites drive me wild. I can totally sympathize. If this doesn't work, get yourself a mosquito net.

And Jack, if you aren't seeing the mozzies, or hearing them, it's probably bed bugs. They're tiny little brown hard-shelled beetles, and their bites are even worse (for me at least). They live in the wood and the walls and come out only once you are sleeping...

Citronella didn't help me either :-(
In fact, I couldn't fall asleep because of its smell!!!

Anyone know what I can do about mosquitoes? I'm waking up with half a dozen to dozen new bites every morning, some of them well over an inch in diameter, and they itch like hell, even if I don't touch them. They're beginning to disrupt my sleep, which is affecting my overall performance. I've done everything I can think of to keep them out at night but they're still getting at me. I never see them, not at daytime either, but the bites are all over my body, from my forehead to my feet. I've tried citronella spray - no effect. Don't want DEET

Thanks Andrew, I only had a short overnight stop there so I didn't want to venture into the city, just catch some sleep. I'm in Thailand now. Thanks for the link for future needs.

Jack - Not sure if you're still there, but while there wasn't much fruit at the LCCT, you can find some at wet markets in the city.

Chow Kit is the best of them that I found: http://www.raw-food-health.net/Chow-Kit.html#axzz1n5QFa51y

Didn't spot any fruit at LCCT, though I didn't look much. Had enough grapes & dates over to last me to Thailand.

Hey Jack!  Olive has already set me up with an address in Bangkok, but thanks for the offer! If there is a good durian scene, please let me know and maybe I'll come visit you! How long will you be there?

Comment by Jack on February 19, 2012 at 5:00am

Does anyone know if there's any fruit available in or around LCCT in Kuala Lumpur? I'm spending just one night in a hotel there, arriving in the evening & flying on next day. Wouldn't want to travel to KL itself. I'll bring along as much dates & grapes as I can but not sure they'll last me long enough.

Lindsay, I'll be on Samui if that's of any help. I'm sure there's someone in Bangkok too.

Is anyone in Bangkok or Chanthaburi right now?

I'll be arriving around March 20th and need to have some things (ie contact lenses) shipped to me from home and need an address to ship them to.  If you'd be willing to let me use your address I'd really appreciate it! It's a great excuse to meet up too :)
