I struggle with bread too! The one thing that I can't manage to give up for any length of time. :/
I have a similar problem. However, my problem is worse than yours! For that reason, my solution is more extreme than yours. Instead of trying with a will...I am attempting to let go; to give up; to admit complete defeat; to accept the fact that I am powerless over SAD--in all its forms and guises. That means I must abstain entirely from SAD and become 100% LFRV. Entire abstinence is my protection from chocolate, cacao, and bread, as well as alcohol!
I'm older, fatter, dumber and uglier than you, but I'm looking for some support for my attempt to admit that SAD has me beat! It's time for me to admit that I'm powerless over SAD; to stop fighting it; to let go and let God help me. This is the AA approach; the 12-step approach. I'm willing to give it a try on SAD as well as alcohol. How about helping me do this, please? My program is called The Mother of All Elimination Diets.
I'm an alcoholic. A member of Alcoholics Anonymous. The problem of addiction that you mention is very familiar to alcoholics. They have developed a 12-Step program to solve the problem of powerlessness. Have you ever heard of the admission of powerlessness? That is the First Step. Once we admit that we can't control our addiction with self will, we have no choice but to search for a Power greater than ourselves. Does any of this sound familiar...?
It takes all 12 Steps, and you can't really do it "intellectually," because it is an emotional and spiritual process. And, of course, you have to be willing to try it.
But your avatar looks like you don't have a problem. If you don't have a problem, why worry?
"Once we admit that we can't control our addiction with self will" im sooooo fascinated in behavioral engineering!
