30 Bananas a Day!

I only recently learned about this woman. Perhaps you've already heard of her -- if you haven't, I'm happy to share with you: The Peace Pilgrim.

I encourage you to read about her on your own (there is also an excellent video):

She also has a book that I've yet to read (though i checked it out from the library today :) )

I sigh deeply; what a beautiful woman!

sincerely -- peace friends,

I have seen it.

Perhaps one of the biggest myths that pervades our culture is that humans are inherently selfish. With this, we resign to ourselves to war and enviromental destruction as mere inevitabilities.

Though when we take a deeper look, the myth is exposed..

In a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, Swami Satchidananda says that there are 5 kinds of people: there are 'theifs' -- those who TAKE, giving nothing; there are 'debtors' -- those who predominately TAKE, giving little; there are 'good business people' -- those who take a little and give a little; there are the 'rieghtous' -- those who predominately GIVE, taking little; and finally, there are 'saints' -- those who simply GIVE.

I think this is a beautiful teaching.

It is self-evident, i think, that the scope of human NATURE is a contiuum of sort. There was a time not too long ago when slavery was considered a 'natural' human phenomenon. We now know better. Our world could both 'naturally' be utter chaos or just as 'naturally' be an expression of Divine beauty.

So often, i think, we underestimate our own power - or perhaps it is more apt to say, the power of God which can manifest through us.

We have a lot to be accountable for, i think. And it is not always easy. Truely, though, it seems that our every word, deed, and thought carries a weight - a transformational weight. The Buddha called this 'karmic law'. Our task is to cultivate peace within ourselves, and in this way cultivate peace in our families and our world...

You are a shining star.
Thanks for sharing Carrie. Wow, 17 years without speaking -- what an intresting man. Blessed are those who deeply engage with the EXPERIMENT of Life. There are many sadhus, Indian holy men, who take vows of silence -- simply living without speaking at all, for years and years. Amazing. I cant only imagine the fruits of this practice. Another intersting fellow worth looking up is Meher Baba, remaining silent for 44 years until he died, teaching messages of love...
