I've been meeting quite a few ex-raw foodists who are so surprised anyone out there is still doing raw food. They did gourmet raw food a few years ago, didn't feel well, and now often eat meat again. One of them is doing paleo- yuck!
I haven't met anyone who has done lfrv but besides the exact food choices, I really wonder if these people were attracted back to meat because they didn't have their B12 supplementation seriously.
Because I could not imagine what would make ex-vegans so adamant now about how meat makes them feel complete... they have to ramble on and on about it to me almost as if they're waiting for my approval.
I have been doing 811 for almost a year now (2 weeks to go) and have gotten some weird cravings at time - particularly for nutritional yeast which I know is B12 rich. I do supplement but have gone for weeks or even a month slacking on it. I could not emphasize enough how important it is to keep up with those supplements... because otherwise you may really find yourself craving the oddest things and perhaps overeating because your body is searching desperately for the vitamin it is looking for but can't find it in other foods.
For me, the cravings often get confused for something very savory... like salt or greens or fats. Try taking your B12 supplement. If you really have to, take a little nutritional yeast even though it's not a food... but it's basically a chemically made supplement anyway. It may make you feel better.
Anyway, after being more regular about my supplementation, I've noticed all my remnant unusual cravings dissipate. I really think this should be taken seriously if you want to really be long term! Best of luck to all :)!
If they did gourmet food, i can understand why. When i first started raw food, i also was taken in the gourmet version. Macadamia nuts-sauce with zuccini pasta and dehydrated "meat"loaf etc etc, it took aaaaaages to make, wasn't really nice tasting and full of fat.
My second time around, i'm doing it right. So it's far easier.
