30 Bananas a Day!

I was reading an article today that said that on average Americans spend 34 hours a week watching TV. That is so crazy to me!! I stopped watching TV when I realized that if I spent 1 hour a day watching TV in 24 years I would have wasted a whole year watching TV. Anyways, this made me wonder why vegan groups don't put more money and energy towards commercials. It seems like the easiest and fastest way to get through to the masses. Do meat and dairy companies have some kind of control over the networks???? If not we need to get more commercials on air that show the horrors of slaughterhouses and the many wonderful benefits of veganism!!

Because there's not money to be made selling veganism.

Many people dedicate their lives to promoting veganism and saving animals and are not in it for the money. So you're saying they don't make commercials because they don't have enough money??

I'm not saying they're in it for the money.  Promoting veganism is free but commercials cost cash.  What company would pay for commercials if they weren't getting the revenue to pay for them?  That would make anyone go bankrupt.

I personally would not want veganism to be made into a product that we had to buy or something.  The only way companies can sell a vegan diet is indirectly through products like faux chicken.

What about 5-a-day PSA's?

Advertising costs a lot of money, there are an estimated 1 million vegans in America.  Something like that would have to be funded for charity, unless there was some way to make a profit.  There simply aren't enough of us to make that happen.  Unless some very wealthy vegans want to start to donate money to make a fund, this won't happen.  PETA is about the closest thing that you will find to provegan ads, but they come off as crazy to the majority of people.  It really just comes down to simple economics, there isn't enough demand for it so why supply it?  I think it would be great, but from a business perspective there is no incentive.
