I'm talking about healthy fats. Raw nuts, avocados etc.
A few weeks ago I couldn't get any fruit and that tempted me to buy one of my favorite foods, shelled peanuts. I got a whole 400 gram bag of peanuts with a shell (most of the grams are the shells) and ate it while wtaching movies. Mmmm, best meal ever!
When it comes to fruit, it's just sweet so it's not comforting for me, it's just like "meh". It does make me feel better physically than when eating nuts or fatty vegan foods, but not psychologically. Why is this? I look much forward to eating my one day a week night salad with nuts and an avocado in than the fruit during the day.
High fat foods alter the chemistry of the brain the same way as opiates do.
Studies have also shown that ingesting a high-fat diet increases the gene expression of dynorphin in the hypothalamus. Thus, dynorphin may cause overeating when a high-fat diet is available. were the first to describe the role of opioid peptides in stress-related eating. In their study, mice had their tails pinched (causes stress), which induced eating. Stress-related eating was reduced by injecting naloxone, an opioid peptide antagonist.
