Alot of the vegan pros i follow make it look so easy, but I work (alot) and don't make very much.. So buying the amount of produce i need at a grocery store is getting ridiculously expensive. Does anyone out there know of a wholesale fruit distributor in Toronto, ON?
The only places i found were for businesses.
I appreciate any help!
you can try the chinese fruit markets. lots of them downtown. i have been trying to get in touch with toronto food terminal to see if i could just buy stuff there but no luck yet. I'll let you know if I get throught to them. would be nice to start a co op :).
I am in the Whitby area and trying to find cheap crates as well. At the moment, I'm doing pretty well buying from Cosco and weekly grocery store sales. I bought a case of 10 ataulfo mangoes (there was only suppose to be 8, but 2 magically appeared in my case, hehehe) for $6.50 at Superstore earlier this week.
I am curious to know when you find out! I have been buying my produce from a great little market at the corner of Bloor and Manning, and I also subscribe to a local organic food bin (Mama Earth). I definitely do not yet consume as much fruit as I would like, but luckily rice is cheap :)
I will soon be moving to Montreal, and I'm afraid it will be even harder to get local produce there. Ontario has it good!
