Soo I have two beautiful british short hair cats. They are not MINE but my familys.
Even if I cannot shift my family into a vegan diet i want to shift my cats into that. And I believe that also cats and other animals can survive and eat a vegan diet.
And therefore I went to our veterinarian and started to discuss with him if and why not our cats could eat only vegetables. And he said that it is not good and that the best "food" for cats is soposedly a mouse. A mouse may have everything that a cat needs..and that cats, dogs...etc. always eat mamals, in wild nature tigers ...etc eat mammals.
I am vegetarian since I am 14 years old and now vegan. I dont want to touch dead animal flesh. It horrofies me.
But my family wont stop giving them meat.
I give them for one week now, everyday a couple of slices of tomatoes and greens into their organic tuna because they wont eat anything else
I really hate hate hate it to give them meat. But neither the tomatoes nor the greens they were eating. I tried even only to give them like a tomatoe sauce with spices, but they wont touch it.
I just gave them tomatoes because it has a good and attractive color and it is salty which they like . But they also didnt like that either.
So WHAT CAN I FEED MY CATS and how to transition them into a vegan diet?
They are adult cats now and got used to a certain diet.
It will be difficult to get them to eat anything else now.
And surely they are not going to get their calories from tomatoes and greens.
I would recommend asking Prad.
I think he knows a lot about the topic.
cats do very well on vegan diets, but these should be properly supplemented.
even meat based diets are supplemented. tomatoes and greens in tuna likely won't do the job, rawdadalove.
you can get plenty of information from this thread and from the links:

From my own experience: cats will eat what they got used to from childhood, if it's meat - then it's meat, if it's fish - than fish (and it maybe a certain kind of fish, mind you), if it's everything - then everything.
In a way they are just like humans in this respect...
