30 Bananas a Day!

I have been sick with the flu for about 3 days now. Symptoms include: sore throat, terrible headache, coughing, weakness/weariness, achy joints, and stuffy nose... What are the best raw fruits or veggies to eat when sick that aid in quick healing?

Ya Mei - the best thing is as little as possible.  Lightening the digestive load will speed your healing by allowing your body more available energy to clear toxins, which is its primary focus right now.

If you have the desire to eat, keep to very water-rich foods, eg melon, papaya, mango, grape, tomato, plus less fibrous greens, eg lettuce, spinach.

Raw oranges!  Oranges are high in vitamin C and antioxidants and are great for the immune system.  They also have natural painrelievers, are anti inflammatory, and antihistamine!

Oranges are natures pharmacy in a bottle.

Take rest, gets plenty of sleep, may be a little sun in the day time, and drink 3-4 quarts of water a day to flush it out.

Just what I was about to say! Two days ago I woke up ill (I caught it from my sister) with all of the symptoms you described, Ya Mei. 

I ate 12 oranges and drank a liter of orange juice that day. 

The next day, I was 100% back to normal (hehe, my meat, dairy, and egg eating sister is STILL sick... she's had it for over a week now, while I, the 'unhealthy' vegan, get the disease out of my system within 24 hours).

Remeber it's probably not the Flu but your body detoxing. If your low fat Raw vegan or you blend or juice. These symtoms are normal. I went through them early in the year. I knew from research that I did not really have the flu but my body trying to get the toxins out.

Rest up eat light easy digestable foods, juices smoothies.

Feel better. We have to get sick sometime to be healthy :-)


The best to do is do nothing. Try to rest and some fast...  I did a terrible sore throat (detox) and I just rest in bed and take some orange juice, about one liter in one day. In two days I was ok, and running.  Get well!  

I was so tempted to take some medicine, but I refrained and am already feeling better. :) 

Try ice cold showers and see if that helps. They used to use that as a treatment for sickness back in the olden days.
