Since dried figs are too high in fat in my opinion (like 90/5/5 more than 80/10/10) I do not want to eat the big pack I bought recently on itself. And those figs are very hard, so I think I'm gonna soak them. But what then ? Anybody here who can offer me a recipe for a smoothie or something else that includes some (or many, that would be best ^^) soaked dried figs ?
Juicy figs aren't high in fat or protein, so I'm not seeing why dried ones would be, provided nothing has been aded to them.
Soak and blend was my thought too.
See my answer to Bryan and reread my first sentence in my question, I've edited it.
You think fig-o-rade tastes as good as date-o-rade ?
ah, is there some reason 955 over 811?
It's really not something to worry about much, the latters just a bit more flexible. Unless you have a specific purpose behind going overt fat free, it's fine to include them on occasion in small amounts if they agree with you.
I've blended figs in with other fruits, but not solo yet as I recall.
Even as an emergency food, you could soak the rock hard figs in a bottle of water, then munch when softened.
i don't eat no rock hard figs here. We have the newly infamous Market Basket for INSANELY cheap quality dried figs and when the Turkish ones aren't in season Trader Joe's holds us over in New England... Is it Phoenix where you live? You lucky man you ?
Looked it up : 100g contain 304 kcal, 2,7g protein and 2,7g fat. You are right, it fits the 80/10/10-model. Anyhow, I needed ideas :)
They're fairly low in both protein and fat.. and well below 10% for the two values, great snack to use once in a while.
You are absolutely right, my mistake.
Haha, the problem is that I can't eat them by themselves. They are too hard and dry and don't taste that well. When I have dried figs it must really be an emergency ;)
Here we go. You created one of my most favourite blogs in the whole internet. Thank you so much, Natalie !
Aww thanks! I have a recipe for fig cookies on there that may work for your fig situation too :)
OMG That Fig Pie is to die for!! Thank-you
You're so welcome :)
