Melbourne, Australia - I'm paying approx. $25 per box at the moment
How many kg in a box?
3. From Valencia, though. Organic bananas are 2,35€ per kg. Conventional bananas are from 1,65€ to 1,90€ per kg., depending on whether they are "bananas" [from outside the country, always American bananas] or "plátanos" [from the Canary Islands.]
I have been able to find cheaper ones when very ripe (0,60€ to 1€/kg) at some Pakistanis' fruit shops.
I'm pretty sure banana/plátano prices are more or less the same all over Spain.
A "plátano" is smaller, sweeter and more expensive than a banana. They have a few nutritional differences as well.
In upstate NY; about 45 minutes outside of NYC costs about 79 cents a pound.
How about in the middle of nowhere Missouri? I buy bananas for 39 cents/lb. So around $16 a week for a 40lb box (:
Los Angeles: 40 lbs for $6 and a little sweet talking to the manager of the store ;)
0.99 US $ per one kilogram organic.(P and P supermarket.Umbatha-trademark,nice quality).
0.89 conventional ( all supermarkets) but my greengrocer sometimes sells them for 0.29 or 0.39 US $ per kilo. His price varies up to 0.69 per kilo over time. It's never stable.
He also keeps 'over-ripe'=just right, fruit (and vegs) of all kinds outside his door in various sizes of boxes.Eg. I just got 6 kg of (lovely)pears for one US dollar. But I have a feeling that most 'normal' shoppers miss all those bargains mainly because they are not on the lookout for them.I also used to buy some unripe inedible but expensive fruit often, before learning to buy wisely( the most ripe and the cheapest fruit available) on 30 bad site.
Banana is the most eaten fruit here. Some more exotic and imported fruits can be expensive.
Zurich 1kg organic: €2.60 / $3.60
in Germany 1kg organic bananas is between 1.59€ - 1.99€ (if they are also fair trade then could be up to 2.59€)
1. London - 11p / banana or 68p / kilo :)
im suburbs of NYC and it ranges from .69 cents - .99 cents a pound.
